Job Description
Wait Industries is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Technician to help ensure our machined and metal parts consistently meet customer specifications and quality standards. In this role you will inspect parts using precision measuring tools, document quality issues, and manage the product return process from start to finish. You will be a key point of contact for customers on product returns, so strong written communication and a customer-first mindset are essential. This is an entry-level opportunity — candidates with a solid foundation and the right attitude will receive on-the-job training in our tools, systems, and quality processes. Key Responsibilities Inspect machined and metal parts against drawings and specifications using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and other inspection equipment. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) to verify dimensional accuracy. Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming parts and quality defects clearly and accurately. Initiate and process Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) for product returns, tracking each case through to resolution. Start, document, and help drive 8D corrective action reports, working with the team to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions. Serve as a primary contact for customer product returns — sending emails and responding promptly and professionally to customer inquiries about returns and quality concerns. Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, and documentation in company systems. Support continuous improvement efforts and follow all quality procedures, safety rules, and standards. Required Qualifications Prior QC Technician experience, or comparable hands-on quality/inspection experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to use standard measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) — or a strong aptitude to learn them quickly. Comfortable with computers and technology (email, spreadsheets, quality/ERP software); tech-savvy and quick to pick up new systems. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clear, professional customer emails. Customer-oriented mindset with a professional, helpful, and responsive approach. Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping. High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience initiating RMAs and authoring 8D corrective action reports. Familiarity with GD&T and reading engineering blueprints. Experience in a machining, fabrication, or metal-parts environment. Exposure to ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems. What We Offer On-the-job training in our tools, quality processes, and systems, plus the opportunity to grow within our Quality team. Wait Industries is committed to building a skilled, quality-focused team and investing in the development of promising candidates. Wait Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
