Job Title:
Quality Technician Job Description The Quality Technician supports daily quality operations within a manufacturing environment, working closely with quality leadership and production teams to ensure products meet established standards and regulatory requirements. This role combines hands-on work on the production floor with detailed quality documentation, data analysis, and laboratory testing. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented, organized professional who wants to gain or expand quality laboratory experience and contribute to continuous improvement across mass production processes. Responsibilities Support the Quality Manager with day-to-day activities within the quality department to maintain consistent quality standards across production. Perform quality-related data entry and documentation control, including entering, verifying, and maintaining test and inspection data in both digital and paper-based systems. Manage and organize digital and non-digital quality records to ensure traceability, accuracy, and compliance with internal and external requirements. Support the investigation of customer complaints by collecting data, reviewing documentation, and assisting in determining root causes and corrective actions. Conduct internal quality audits to verify adherence to procedures, standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Participate in external quality audits as needed, providing documentation, explanations, and support to demonstrate compliance. Conduct laboratory testing on products and related materials, following established methods and protocols to verify conformance to specifications. Assist in evaluating test results and recommending corrections or improvements based on laboratory findings. Participate in containment actions to control and isolate potential quality issues and prevent further impact on production or customers. Assist with returned product investigations by examining products, reviewing historical data, and supporting the determination of failure modes and root causes. Perform data analysis to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement, and support root cause identification for quality problems. Support the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions to address identified issues and reduce the risk of recurrence. Assist in controlling non-conforming product on the production floor, including identifying, tagging, and segregating non-conforming material. Process customer returns by documenting issues, coordinating with relevant departments, and ensuring proper handling and disposition. Manage and maintain hold areas to ensure non-conforming or suspect product is clearly identified, controlled, and handled according to procedure. Support and promote 5S activities across the production floor and office environments to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workplace. Work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and other team members to maintain and improve quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. Use inspection tools such as calipers and other measurement equipment to perform quality inspections as needed. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to quality systems, documentation, and laboratory practices. Participate in quality audits and investigations in laboratory and production areas to ensure ongoing compliance with GMP and other quality standards. Essential Skills High school diploma required. 2-3+ years of experience in a quality role within a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment. Hands-on experience with quality assurance and quality control activities in a manufacturing or laboratory setting. Experience with quality documentation and file management, including both digital and paper-based records. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, basic data analysis, and chart creation for reporting quality metrics. Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for preparing internal and external quality reports and presentations. Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately enter, review, and verify quality data. Strong organizational skills for managing multiple quality records, audits, and investigations simultaneously. Experience performing inspections and quality checks, including the use of calipers and other measurement tools. Experience with internal audits and quality inspections in a GMP or regulated environment. Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures and working in a lab environment. Ability to support investigations of customer complaints and returned products through data review and documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in a STEM or quality-focused discipline preferred but not required. Experience with or exposure to ISO, QS, and TS quality standards is beneficial and can be developed further in this role. Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and related documentation requirements. Experience with chemistry or laboratory science is a plus for supporting lab testing and analysis. Familiarity with 5S principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Strong communication skills to clearly document findings and present quality information to internal stakeholders. Interest in growing into more advanced quality or laboratory roles within engineering or scientific teams. Willingness to learn from experienced laboratory and quality professionals and take on increasing responsibility over time. Work Environment This position operates primarily in a laboratory and manufacturing environment on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The role involves regular presence on the production floor for inspections, audits, and non-conforming product control, as well as time in the lab performing tests and working with quality documentation. You will work with standard laboratory and inspection equipment, including calipers and other measurement tools, and use computer systems for data entry, analysis, and reporting. The team environment is small and cohesive, offering one-on-one, hands-on training from highly experienced laboratory technicians and quality professionals. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
