Full Job Description Position Summary:
The CMM & Quality Control Technician is responsible for advanced inspection, measurement, and verification of precision components using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and other metrology tools. This role supports production by ensuring all products meet CDT's quality standards and customer specifications. The Level 3 technician serves as a technical resource, assists with complex measurement challenges, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Department.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Program, operate, and troubleshoot CMM equipment using advanced metrology software.
  • Perform detailed dimensional inspections on production and prototype parts.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain CMM programs and inspection documentation.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis and support corrective action activities.
  • Verify calibration status of inspection tools and maintain measurement integrity.
  • Train and mentor lower‑level technicians on inspection methods and equipment use.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Prepare accurate inspection reports and communicate results to relevant departments.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to measurement processes and quality systems.
  • Other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in CMM programming (PC‑DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent).
  • Advanced understanding of GD&T and precision measurement principles.
  • Experience with surface plates, height gauges, micrometers, optical comparators, and other metrology tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and identify trends or deviations.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
