Falls of Rough, KY Requirements BFC is looking for a hardworking individual to complete daily field QC Sampling, Testing, and Monitoring, on a drilling and Grouting and Cutoff Wall Construction project, in Rough River Dam, KY. Job Summary The Quality Control Technician performs field sampling, testing, monitoring, data collection, and quality-control documentation for the Rough River Dam drilling, grouting, and cutoff wall project. Working under the direction of the QC Manager, the technician follows established project specifications, testing procedures, construction schedules, and the approved Quality Control Plan. The position records and reports test results, identifies apparent deviations from established requirements, and promptly escalates concerns to the QC Manager. The role does not have independent engineering, design, or project-approval authority. Requirements A willingness to gain experience on a specialized jobsite with a unique technique. Ability to work on the field work as it may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word & Excel in particular). A strong work ethic. Conscientious work habits that include attention to detail, clear documentation, and communication skills Respectful team player and ethical behavior at all times. A willingness to accept and implement constructive feedback from managers within the company. Demonstrate initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Clean driving record. Supervisory Responsibilities None Duties/Responsibilities Construction QC Monitoring and Testing. Collection and preparation of the grout, slurry and concrete material samples following a specific construction schedule, specification, and QC plan, with associated labelling, preservation methods. Field tests following specifications and QC plan. Creates digital and paper QC documentation associated with the field testing, sampling, and Cutter Soil Mixing execution. Ensures completeness of the documentation. Collects, organizes, and enters field data into established Excel worksheets and project systems; identifies apparent deviations or unusual results and promptly reports them to the QC Manager. Promptly reports test results that fall outside established specifications or acceptance criteria to the QC Manager. Follows established instructions regarding retesting, additional sampling, and documentation of nonconforming conditions. Various other QC field testing services as required Prepares daily activities reports and submits them to the QC manager/Project Manager. Expected to support team operations and play an integral part in the success of the project. Attending daily meetings as per project requirements. Adhere to safe practices, promotes BFC health and safety culture, maintains high work quality standards, and equipment maintenance. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and direct sunlight. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven, muddy, steep, or active construction-site terrain. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and maintain balance while performing field-testing and sampling activities. Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull tools, samples, materials, and testing equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely climb stairs and ladders and access elevated or restricted work areas, as required. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots. Ability to work around construction equipment, drilling operations, dust, dirt, mud, vibration, fumes, and elevated noise levels. Ability to use hands and fingers to operate testing equipment, hand tools, mobile devices, and computers. Visual and auditory ability sufficient to observe field conditions, read instruments and documentation, identify hazards, and communicate safely in an active construction environment. Ability to work extended shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays based on project requirements.
Education and Experience:
Some experience on geotechnical/foundations projects with drilling & Grouting, and Cutoff Wall technologies preferred. Experience as a concrete, soil, construction materials, or field quality control technician is strongly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in geotechnical, structural, or construction areas with project and/or office experience. Relevant coursework, technical training, or experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical construction, quality control, or a related field is preferred. Compensation and benefits Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
