Quality Inspector Aerospace/Defense Manufacturing On-site in Slidell, LA $35.00 - $40.00/Hourly We are hiring a Quality Inspector in Slidell, LA , supporting aerospace and defense manufacturing quality operations in a contract position. This role performs in-process and dimensional inspections, blueprint and GD&T interpretation, coating and paint testing, supplier audits, and quality documentation while working with
AS9100, ISO
9001, MIL-SPEC, PPAP, SPC, CMM, QMS, ERP, and precision measurement equipment . This role supports manufacturing quality and product conformance across machining, welding, assembly, painting, and conversion coating processes. The Quality Inspector will identify nonconformances, support containment and corrective actions, verify calibration requirements, and collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure products meet customer, DoD, and aerospace quality requirements.Responsibilities:
Perform in-process inspections and dimensional measurements, accurately documenting results in accordance with quality requirements. Conduct visual inspections of painted parts across conversion lines to verify compliance with customer specifications. Test products and approved samples during painting and conversion coating processes, including temperature, paint thickness, adhesion, concentration, titration, and pH testing. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements for machined components. Use precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM equipment, to complete dimensional reports and verify product conformance. Verify required quality paperwork, certifications, inspection records, and supporting documentation are complete and properly maintained. Initiate and support containment activities when discrepancies or nonconforming products are identified. Review and refine inspection and data collection requirements using customer drawings, models, work orders, purchase orders, sketches, and PPAP requirements. Participate in Gage R&R studies and measurement system analyses to support process control and continuous improvement. Conduct supplier audits and quality assessments. Verify measuring and testing equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and checked for accuracy. Support root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and resolution of manufacturing quality issues. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address quality concerns, inspection findings, and process improvements. Communicate quality issues, corrective actions, and resolutions with appropriate internal and external stakeholders. Perform additional quality inspection and assurance duties as required to support production and customer requirements.Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law High school diploma or GED. Minimum 1 year of quality inspection or quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of quality assurance methods, inspection processes, and aerospace/defense quality standards, includingMIL-SPEC, ISO
9001, and AS9100 . Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, tolerances, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) . Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, and related measurement tools . Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, assembly, painting, and coatings and their impact on product quality. Experience accurately documenting inspection results using Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ERP software . Knowledge of quality methodologies including root cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive action (CAPA), statistical process control (SPC), Gage R&R, and PPAP . Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, ITAR/EAR compliance, and applicable security requirements . Must meet company requirements for background checks, employment verification, reference checks, physical examination, and controlled substance testing. Must be able to obtain and maintain suitability requirements for access to classified information.Preferred Qualifications:
Technical training or coursework in quality control, manufacturing technology, or a related field. Quality inspection or quality assurance experience within the military, aerospace, or defense manufacturing industry. Experience with inspection tools, blueprint reading, and quality systems operating under ISO 9001 or AS9100 . Relevant quality, manufacturing, or inspection education or certifications.
