About the Opportunity Our client, a defense autonomy company, is seeking a mid- to senior-level Electrical Engineer with strong experience in hardware validation, automated test systems, and test fixture development. This role supports design validation and manufacturing test readiness for electronic systems used in autonomous vehicle platforms, and plays a key part in building out production-level test capability as the program scales. What You'll Do Design and build test packages and documentation for manufacturing test, including versioning and long-term maintenance as board revisions change Develop boundary scan test packages using JTAG-based tools Design and build custom test fixtures, harnesses, and breakout boards, including light PCB layout work Develop automated test scripts to exercise hardware interfaces (Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C, power systems) Support testing to MIL-STD and related reliability/EMI standards, including troubleshooting at outside test labs Review designs in progress to identify testability and manufacturing gaps early in the design cycle Lead hardware debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers Perform root cause analysis on hardware issues found during validation and field testing Support network switch and I/O interface testing Collaborate cross-functionally with design, firmware, and manufacturing teams, including contract manufacturing partners Minimum Qualifications Strong experience in hardware validation and automated test development Hands-on experience designing test fixtures, hardware test adapters, or validation systems from scratch, not solely executing existing test plans Deep familiarity with hardware debugging and lab instrumentation Strong understanding of design-for-test (DFT) and validation methodologies Basic knowledge of networking configurations and protocols Strong problem-solving skills across mixed hardware/software issues Preferred Qualifications Experience with automated hardware test systems (Python, JTAG/boundary scan, or similar) MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, or similar reliability/EMI testing experience Experience with automotive, defense, or high-reliability hardware systems Familiarity with networking hardware, embedded systems, or robotics platforms Experience building test documentation or configuration management processes for contract manufacturer handoff
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
