Job Description
Position Overview Are you a civil construction professional who takes pride in doing things the right way? We're looking for a QA/QC Technician II - Civil to join our Field Services team and help ensure quality across some of our most challenging projects. In this role, you'll spend a significant amount of time in the field, working alongside Project Managers, Supervisors, and field crews to monitor quality, provide guidance, and make sure work meets project specifications and Company standards. Our civil work includes mass grading, excavation, technical earthwork, and utilities, on utility-scale solar, mining, and industrial projects. We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of QA/QC practices and hands-on civil construction experience who can recognize potential issues, work with field teams to solve problems, and help us continue building a strong culture of quality. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being in the field, working with construction teams, and having a direct impact on the success of a project. The position requires flexibility, extended travel and out-of-town work, and a willingness to work extended hours when project needs require it. What You'll Do Verify that project hold points for civil scopes of work are met before work is covered or backfilled Perform routine field inspections of grading, excavation, fill placement, and related utility and concrete work against approved drawings, specifications, and the project geotechnical reportDocument inspections with field reports and photographs and submit them into the Company's quality system for office review Confirm required testing is performed at the frequency called for by the specifications and track results against acceptance criteria Verify erosion and sediment control measures are installed and maintained in accordance with the approved plan and applicable permits Verify lines, grades, and elevations against approved drawings and support as-built and closeout documentation Working Conditions Sit, talk, listen, observe, read, write and type Work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather Perform duties on-site at industrial and commercial locations Stand/Walk for long periods of time to include uneven terrain Safely enter and exit trenches, excavations, and active grading areas, and work in proximity to heavy equipment What You'll Bring 5+ years of experience serving in a construction QA/QC capacity, with a minimum of 2 years in earthwork or site construction field inspection Valid driver's license required and ability to maintain status as an approved company driver Previous earthwork experience spanning mass grading and excavation through more technical dirt work preferred; utility-scale solar, mining, or industrial site experience a plus Working knowledge of earthwork and site construction practices and of the testing typically required by project specifications Ability to read and interpret grading plans, erosion and sediment control plans, utility and structural drawings, and geotechnical reports required Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Responsible Personnel Certification ("Green Card") required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire OSHA Competent Person training for excavation and trenching required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire How We'll Support You
