QA/QC Technician Motor City Electric - 3.5 Detroit, MI Job Details 11 hours ago Qualifications Electrical blueprint reading Construction specifications Technical documentation Driver's License Construction plans Full Job Description Job Summary Be the eyes and documentation behind quality in the field. The QA/QC Technician supports MCE project teams by performing and documenting inspections, verifying installation details, supporting electrical testing, tracking deficiencies, and maintaining the records needed for turnover. This is a hands-on role for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable on active jobsites, and committed to getting the work right the first time. Subsidiary Motor City Electric Department Engineering Location Detroit, MI Primary Responsibilities Perform routine field inspections using approved drawings, specifications, checklists, ITPs, manufacturer requirements, and project quality standards. Inspect and document electrical work such as conduit/underground, grounding and bonding, cable installation, terminations, equipment installation, labeling, torque verification, and pre-energization activities. Support or witness testing such as insulation resistance/megger, continuity, grounding, torque, and other project-required tests within qualification limits. Complete inspection forms, test reports, checklists, photos, punch/deficiency records, and digital quality documentation accurately and on time. Assist with receiving inspections, material verification, storage condition checks, calibration status, and traceability of test equipment and records. Identify nonconforming or incomplete work, communicate findings quickly, track corrective actions, and verify rework or repairs when assigned. Maintain organized, traceable quality records for system turnover, including supporting redlines/as-builts, vendor documentation, certifications, and closeout packages. Coordinate daily with the QA/QC Manager, Superintendents, foremen, field engineers, and project teams to keep inspections aligned with the construction schedule. Education, Experience, and Skills Required 2+ years of electrical construction, QA/QC, inspection, testing, commissioning, or related field experience. Working knowledge of electrical installations and ability to read drawings, one-lines, specifications, and manufacturer instructions. Strong attention to detail and ability to complete field documentation accurately. Comfort using tablets/computers for forms, photos, and records; valid driver's license and ability to travel/relocate to project sites.
PREFERRED
Electrical trade experience or technical education. Utility, industrial, substation, BESS, solar, wind, data center, or large-project experience. Experience with test equipment and platforms such as Autodesk Build/ACC, Procore, or Bluebeam; relevant inspection/testing certifications are a plus. Additional Information
FIELD EXPECTATIONS
Regular walking, standing, climbing, bending, and work in active construction environments; use of required PPE; exposure to weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain; ability to carry typical inspection/test equipment and work project schedules as needed.
