CMM Manager Norton Shores, MI | Direct Hire Lead Quality While Staying Hands-On Our client, an established machining-focused manufacturer, is seeking a hands-on CMM Manager with strong CMM programming and dimensional inspection experience. This role combines day-to-day quality leadership with direct involvement on the shop floor, making it ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems and working with a variety of machined parts. As the CMM Manager , you'll take ownership of inspection activities, program and operate CMM equipment, oversee calibration, maintain quality documentation, and work closely with production to resolve quality concerns. You'll also help strengthen inspection processes and provide guidance to other quality personnel as the operation continues to grow. What You'll Do Lead day-to-day quality and inspection activities within a machining environment. Program, modify, and operate CMM equipment across a variety of part types. Perform dimensional and visual inspections of machined components. Use optical comparators, precision hand gauges, and other inspection equipment. Manage gauge and inspection equipment calibration activities. Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation. Develop and improve in-process inspection checklists and work instructions. Provide technical guidance and support to other quality personnel. Partner with production employees and leadership to identify and resolve quality concerns. Investigate quality issues and support corrective actions. Take ownership of quality concerns from identification through resolution. Support quality system and compliance requirements. Grow into a more customer-facing quality resource as needed. What We're Looking For 4+ years of hands-on quality inspection experience in a machining environment. CMM programming experience required , not just CMM operation. Experience inspecting a variety of machined parts and operations. Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools, including hand gauges and optical comparators. Ability to read and interpret prints, specifications, tolerances, and inspection requirements. Experience creating, modifying, or adjusting inspection programs. Self-sufficient, technically driven, and comfortable working independently. Job-shop or similar machining experience preferred. Benefits Bonus/profit-sharing opportunities.
