Job Description

Role Overview As our CMM Programmer, you will take charge of our quality laboratory while developing precise CMM programs for a variety of components and gauging tools. You will also handle additional management-directed tasks as they arise. Primary Duties and Accountabilities Develop and execute CMM programs utilizing PC DMIS software. Utilize GD&T standards to accurately translate internal and client-provided blueprints. Coordinate the weekly CMM operational schedule. Ensure holding fixtures and gauges are properly aligned and secured to support accurate production. Generate CMM programming directly from provided CAD data files. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to share measurement results and data insights. Maintain and calibrate CMM hardware, including Brown & Sharpe and Mitutoyo systems. Provide guidance to team members regarding the analysis and methodology of measurement systems. Draft comprehensive measurement system analysis documentation as needed. Manage various administrative responsibilities to support lab operations. Maintain high productivity while balancing multiple priorities in an automotive setting. You should be comfortable using Google and Microsoft software suites. Educational Background High school diploma or GED equivalent. Professional Experience Three to five years of relevant experience within an automotive quality or customer-facing role. Strong grasp of blueprints, statistical process control, and quality management systems. Industry Background We are looking for candidates with a manufacturing history in fast-paced environments, ideally within the automotive sector. Experience working in settings where a culture of continuous improvement is prioritized. Proficiency in working with Plex. Background in tier one automotive operations is preferred. Essential Competencies Deep knowledge of GD&T to help ensure the team meets strict part specifications and measurement accuracy. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to improve our understanding of tolerances and part features. Expertise in CMM hardware and software, such as PC-DMIS, to support laboratory equipment operations. Understanding of metrology principles and measurement sensors to help maintain high-quality standards. Skill in using statistical methods and data analysis to identify trends and improve reporting outcomes. Experience with CAD software to facilitate model-based programming tasks. Capability to perform routine calibration and maintenance on machines to ensure consistent performance. Required Proficiencies Meticulous attention to detail to help prevent quality issues and ensure programming precision. Strong problem-solving abilities to optimize inspection workflows and address measurement challenges. Analytical mindset to help the team identify potential manufacturing issues through data. Clear communication skills to help relay technical findings to team members across departments. Computer proficiency to manage data, operate software, and utilize macro programming. Organizational skills to help streamline the management of data, schedules, and programs. Additional Expectations Provide recommendations regarding budgets and procedures for quality engineering. Maintain customer quality files in accordance with
IATF16949
standards. Conduct internal audits as required. Availability to work Saturdays when necessary. Physical Demands Occasional lifting or moving of objects weighing up to 25 pounds, with rare instances of over 60 pounds. Working in an office setting with typical noise from computer and test equipment. Operating within a factory environment with noise from manufacturing machinery. Working in proximity to industrial equipment. Maintaining awareness to prevent potential injury near machinery. Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 50 pounds.
