THE ROLE
We are seeking Fabrication Operators to join our team and help drive our continued success. This role plays an important part in supporting our customers, strengthening our business, and contributing to the long-term growth of Douglas Dynamics.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Operator performs a variety of machine operations, material handling, quality checks, light assembly, and general maintenance in the Fabrication department. Operators will communicate with their team lead regarding safety, quality, and delivery opportunities daily. Periodically work overtime and/or alternate shifts to meet the production demands. Operators will be expected to maintain safety, quality, and delivery at or above the expected level, actively participate in team activities, training, the company's 5-S activities and follow Douglas Dynamics rules regarding work and conduct. In this role, you will leverage your skills, experience, and perspective to make a meaningful impact. You'll collaborate with teammates across the organization, contribute ideas, and help deliver results that matter for our customers and our business.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Operate and set up lasers (CO2 and fiber), press brakes, and finishing equipment to cut, bend, and finish metal parts per specifications. Operate assigned equipment, identify and correct problems as they occur. Run test cycles and do quality audits to maintain accuracy and quality. Maintain safety, quality, and through put as required. Perform timely upkeep of equipment and programs. Communicate with other departments/shifts daily. Keep work area, tools, material, and equipment clean and orderly. Work in a safe manner and report unsafe conditions as required. Track use of consumables and record production data daily. Willingness to operate all equipment in the Fab business unit after completing equipment training. Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS
Basic math skills Must be able to read and understand blueprints/specifications Must be able to read and understand calipers, micrometer, and protractors. Must be computer literate. Must be able to stand, walk, reach above shoulders and outward, bend, squat and crawl. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
