Job Description
SAAB is seeking a Quality Inspector, Incoming Inspection to ensure the reliability of critical components used in advanced defense and security systems. In this on-site role within our manufacturing operations, you will inspect mechanical, electrical, and electronic parts upon receipt, verifying dimensions, visual attributes, and documentation against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Using precision measurement tools and established procedures, you will accept, reject, and document materials, create nonconformance reports, and support root cause and corrective actions with engineering and supply chain. You will maintain accurate records for traceability, support audits and first article inspections, and contribute to continuous improvement of inspection processes. Responsibilities Perform incoming inspection of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components per Saab and industry standards Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other metrology tools to verify dimensions and tolerances Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine acceptance criteria Document inspection results, nonconformances, and dispositions in quality systems and databases Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain to resolve quality issues and drive corrective actions Support root cause analysis, containment, and continuous improvement of supplier quality Maintain inspection records, traceability, and compliance with defense/aerospace requirements Ensure adherence to safety, ESD, and clean handling practices during inspection activities Participate in audits, FAI (First Article Inspection), and supplier quality reviews as needed Contribute to process improvement initiatives to increase inspection efficiency and consistency Required Skills Incoming inspection Mechanical measurement & metrology Use of calipers, micrometers, gauges Blueprint and engineering drawing reading GD&T interpretation Nonconformance reporting (NCR) Root cause analysis and corrective action support
