SUMMARY:
The Lead Inspector will lead and provide guidance for QC Inspectors of daily activities and ensure the activities of all production personnel (shop floor) comply with MMT's Quality Management System. Develop, implement, and maintain inspection methods and records for all products that are manufactured by MMT and processed by our vendors, including programming of CMM and vision systems as needed. Oversee and perform inspections and tests required to substantiate product conformance to specifications and/or customer quality agreements and purchase order requirements. Develop relationships and communicate with outside service vendors to fully comprehend their processes/services, and its effects regarding our product quality, also work with and resolve any vendor non-conformances per procedure. They will communicate the company's core values of Quality (following the quality program), Attitude (optimistic and helpful), and Attendance (be here every day and on time) throughout the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works in accordance with company policies and procedures to ensure that Quality System and regulatory requirements are met in an ethical manner.
- Assist in implementing MMT's Quality System to assure that all products and services provided to customers conform to purchase order requirements.
- Ensure promotion of awareness regarding customer satisfaction and requirements throughout the organization.
- Reorganize workload effectively and respond with the appropriate sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Recommend changes to management for continuous improvement of the quality program and operational efficiency.
- Assist in training personnel concerning the importance of quality and the MMT Quality System.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with employees in regards to Quality issues that may arise and subsequent resolutions.
- Participate in production meetings and execute the output accordingly, keeping track of product deadlines and ensuring any potential issues are fully communicated and resolved.
- Supervise the work of all Inspectors and implement training for new and continuous improvement for current inspectors.
- Represent the inspection department in all activities relating to customer visits, and inspections (audits).
- Responsible for the custody, proper care, and maintenance of all measuring instruments and gauges and for the efficiency of the inspection area.
- Implement the identification and traceability of all product(s) and materials, including that belonging to customers and nonconforming product.
- Interact with personnel in the manufacturing, purchasing, and shipping/receiving departments to verify compliance for processes that affect the quality of products.
- Suggest changes in inspection to improve quality, reduce costs, or improve company operational efficiency.
- Perform daily audit of product including first article, in-coming, in-process and final inspections.
- Verify that all measuring device and gauge calibrations are current and those out of calibration are removed from service.
- Participate in problem solving to support internal non-conformances and Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) activities.
- Ensure cleanliness and environmental controls are compliant and any potential issues are fully resolved.
- Abide by the day-to-day Safety Standards for shop personnel by utilizing mandatory Safety Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proficient with quality and industry standards.
- Complete understating of Blueprint Reading including GD&T,
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with visual and dimensional inspection of machined products.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in management/supervision of personnel.
- Computer software knowledge and online information navigation skills.
- Full understanding of manufacturing methods and processes.
- Good understanding of medical device raw materials and required treatments including heat treat, stress relieving, coatings, passivation, electropolishing.
- Effective writing and communication skills.
- Capable of managing and completing multiple tasks accurately and expeditiously.
- Close attention to accuracy and detailed orientated.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work independently and establish goals and objectives with little or no supervision, possess the ability to work with a sense of urgency.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be sitting, walking and use hands and fingers, handle or feel, frequently required to talk, or hear, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Lift or move product up to 50lbs by oneself.
- Capability of experiencing exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold and/or chemicals.
- Required use of PPE such as safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, and gloves.
