Quality Control Inspector 5th Shift 2.9 2.9 out of 5 stars Saint Cloud, MN From $29.09 an hour - Full-time Columbia Gear 55 reviews From $29.09 an hour - Full-time Columbia Gear Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join our team on 5th shift with a $5 dollar shift differential. Under the supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, this role is responsible for inspecting raw materials, machined components, and purchased parts to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting blueprints, using precision measuring instruments, and performing advanced inspection processes including nital etching , magnetic particle inspection , and CMM programming . Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inspect raw materials, machined components, and purchased parts for specification compliance Read and interpret blueprints, engineered processes, and geometric tolerancing Measure dimensions using micrometers, dial indicators, surface finish testers, and other inspection equipment Perform nital etching to detect grinding burns Conduct Level I or II magnetic particle inspection to detect cracks and defects Program and operate CNC Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and gear inspection machines Complete inspection reports and required documentation for customers Verify SPC requirements where applicable Interpret customer specifications and determine compliance Set up and calibrate gauges and measuring equipment Inspect product at various stages of production, including complex parts Review and verify material certifications Support shipment documentation requirements Communicate effectively with team members and production staff Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Prior QC inspection experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Experience with CMM programming strongly preferred Magnetic particle inspection certification (Level I or II) preferred or willingness to obtain Skills & Abilities Ability to read blueprints and engineering specifications Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and inspection techniques Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, ratios, and percentages Experience using precision inspection equipment Ability to complete documentation accurately and clearly Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds Regular standing, walking, and use of hands Occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around moving equipment
