This position maintains the operational effectiveness of the Roanoke Rapids Quality Labs and determines dimensional and visual acceptance. The Quality Lab Technician performs laboratory measurements on inserts and reports findings to Quality Management. The Quality Technician is also responsible for the calibration, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, as well as other projects.Key Job Responsibilities:
Perform dimensional and visual measurements using comparators, Keyence systems, hard gages, and other equipment. Perform calibration and maintain calibration software. Perform in-process inspections of inserts, as needed. Conduct internal process audits, as needed. Read and interpret dimensions and instructions from part prints. Perform Cp and Cpk measurements for the certification process. Understand process routing. Conduct special testing and analysis to support plant problem-solving efforts and engineering projects. Interface with equipment vendors, as needed. Work with SAP and perform data entry. Maintain timely and accurate records. Demonstrate strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills. Report directly to the Quality Manager while interacting extensively with all departments. Work effectively in a diverse environment where self-motivation is essential to success. Education, Work Experience, Skills & Certificates Must have a high school diploma Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Perform gage calibration and maintenance. Be proficient in required computer software, including SAP, Microsoft Office, and GageTrak. Have 1-3 years of relevant experience (preferred). Have vocational training or equivalent industry experience (preferred). Effectively use gages and measurement devices to verify compliance with drawings and product specifications, and retrieve and interpret engineering drawings. Read and understand insert identification charts, process routings, and operating procedures, and properly interpret insert defect criteria. Follow procedures and work instructions for conducting customer certifications. Apply experience and skills to complete assigned work within the area of expertise. Work in accordance with standard operating procedures and established scientific methods.
