OnScent is a manufacturer of fragrance and natural cosmetic solutions with world class natural, organic and sustainable materials for the fragrance, cosmetic and personal care industries. We are in search of Quality Control Technician who will be working out of our Norwood, NJ location. The Quality Control Technician is responsible for inspecting, evaluating, and analyzing/testing the raw materials and finished products by performing basic sensory and/or analytical tests to ensure compliance with specifications, standards and product safety regulations. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Perform quality control testing and sensory evaluation of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using analytical methods such as specific gravity, refractive index, melting point, gas chromatography (GC), and other laboratory techniques to verify compliance with established specifications. Review, prioritize, and approve incoming materials and production samples based on operational requirements, customer orders, and quality standards. Generate, maintain, and organize quality documentation, including Certificates of Analysis (COAs), specification sheets, laboratory records, and quality data within company systems. Communicate quality findings, non-conformances, and product disposition decisions to Quality, Operations, Procurement, Purchasing, and Customer Service teams, while supporting investigations of customer complaints and product quality issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve out-of-specification materials, provide rework recommendations when appropriate, and support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and laboratory operations. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment in compliance with company policies, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and applicable safety and regulatory requirements while providing backup support and performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Basic olfactory evaluation skills required; fragrance compounding experience is a plus with ability to distinguish subtle fragrance and product characteristics through sensory evaluation. Working knowledge of laboratory analytical techniques and instrumentation, including GC, refractometers, densitometers, and related testing equipment. Familiarity with quality systems, documentation practices, and laboratory data management. Understanding of chemical handling, laboratory safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Must have strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating in a team-oriented manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computerized laboratory systems. Must be willing to work on weekends as required Must have ability to stand, walk, and work in a laboratory and manufacturing environment for extended periods, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
