QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of satisfactory experience as a Materials Processor or Book Processor in a library setting.

Note:

Verifiable part-time experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.

DUTIES:

∙Process new library materials;

∙Unpack materials;

∙Sort new materials;

∙Maintain departmental statistics;

∙Assess physical condition of materials, determine treatment needs and appropriate repair methods;

∙Maintain inventory of supplies;

∙Monitor and maintain workflow, in supervisor's absence;

∙Assume responsibility for bindery operations beyond preliminary confirmation of items (eg. inputs data into the vendor's computer program, receives and revises returned bound volumes);

∙Perform higher-level maintenance, mending and/or materials repair.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

∙Knowledge and thorough understanding of the techniques of the processing, maintenance and repair of library materials;

∙Higher level skill in processing and repairing materials;

∙Basic math skills; excellent communication skills;

∙Ability to train staff and get along well with others;

∙Good manual dexterity;

∙Initiative;

∙Dependability,

∙Ability to lift or push up to 50 lbs of boxes or carts;

∙Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
