Quality Inspector Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join a fast-paced carbon graphite manufacturing environment. In this role, you inspect raw materials, in-process components, and finished parts to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards. You use precision measuring tools, interpret engineering drawings, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts with a strong commitment to product excellence. Responsibilities Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of carbon graphite products to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards. Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators to inspect parts accurately. Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and customer specifications to determine inspection requirements and acceptance criteria. Document inspection results clearly and accurately using quality records, reports, and checklists. Identify and report non-conformances, and assist with root cause failure analysis and corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement in the manufacturing environment. Support the calibration and proper care of inspection tools and equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability. Maintain a clean, organized inspection area and comply with all safety and quality policies and procedures. Participate in quality assurance activities, including supplier quality checks, audits, and final inspection processes as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the quality management system and overall operational goals. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Solid understanding of mechanical inspection methods and quality control practices. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications. Proficiency in using inspection tools and gauges, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators. Basic computer skills for accurate data entry, reporting, and use of quality records and checklists. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify non-conformances and subtle defects. Effective organizational skills to manage multiple inspections and documentation requirements. Strong problem-solving abilities to support root cause analysis and corrective actions. Ability to work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality team members in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in quality, manufacturing technology, engineering technology, or a related field preferred. Experience in quality assurance, supplier quality, and audit activities in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems is a plus. Exposure to ISO 2015 and
ISO 2018
standards or comparable quality frameworks is beneficial. Knowledge of quality management systems and final inspection processes in a manufacturing environment. Ability to support and adhere to a structured quality management system in a unionized industrial shop. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with occasional overtime requirements. Work Environment This role is based in an industrial metal shop setting focused on carbon graphite manufacturing. You work on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., with Saturday overtime as needed. The position is a direct hire within a union environment, and you collaborate closely with a quality team of approximately nine people. The work involves regular use of precision measuring equipment and inspection tools in a production setting, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and organization in the inspection area. You operate within established quality management systems and procedures typical of ISO-based manufacturing environments. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Ossining, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $62400.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
