The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspection activities throughout the manufacturing process to ensure precision-machined aerospace and medical device components meet customer, engineering, regulatory, and quality requirements. This role is responsible for conducting receiving, first article, first piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment and documented inspection methods to verify product conformance. This is not a laboratory, food production, or product testing quality position. Candidates must have experience performing dimensional inspection of machined components in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate possesses strong blueprint reading skills, advanced knowledge of precision measuring instruments, a commitment to quality, a positive attitude, and experience inspecting close-tolerance aerospace and/or medical components. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform receiving, first article, first piece, in-process, and final inspections of precision-machined components and assemblies. Inspect aerospace and medical device components to customer drawings, specifications, work instructions, and dimensional requirements. Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages, optical comparators, thread gages, pin gages, indicators, and other inspection tools. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements. Verify dimensional, visual, cosmetic, and workmanship requirements. Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming material in accordance with established procedures. Inspect raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products for conformity to requirements. Verify certifications, material traceability, special process documentation, and product identification requirements. Complete inspection records and quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Perform gage verification activities and assist with calibration activities as assigned. Support investigations and containment activities related to nonconforming products. Communicate inspection results, quality concerns, and nonconformances to production, engineering, and quality personnel. Assist with customer, internal, and external audits as required. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Maintain inspection equipment, quality records, and work areas in a clean and organized condition. Comply with all company policies, quality requirements, and safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum three (3) years of dimensional inspection experience in a precision machining, aerospace manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, defense manufacturing, or similar metal manufacturing environment. Experience inspecting precision-machined metal components required. Demonstrated proficiency using precision measuring equipment including micrometers (OD, ID, and depth), calipers, height gages, bore gages, indicators, pin gages, thread gages, and optical comparators. Ability to independently inspect close-tolerance components and accurately verify dimensional requirements. Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Experience performing receiving, first article, first piece, in-process, and final inspections. Experience working within ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Dependable, professional, and able to maintain a high level of accountability. Ability to work independently and make sound inspection-related decisions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Due to ITAR requirements, applicants must be a U.S. Person as defined by U.S. export control regulations. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing and walking within a manufacturing environment. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, inspect, and measure parts. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally. Visual acuity sufficient to inspect parts and verify measurements. Safety Requirements Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated manufacturing areas. Protective eyewear must be worn while in production and inspection areas.
