Job Description
Floor Inspector - 2nd / 3rd Shift Bring your attention to detail to a hands-on quality role where your work matters. OhioMet is seeking a reliable Floor Inspector to join our Quality Department in Elyria, Ohio. In this role, you will inspect heat-treated products, verify quality requirements, document results, and help ensure each order meets customer and internal standards before shipment. What You'll Do Inspect heat-treat loads coming out of our IQ furnace lines. Perform hardness testing and verify case depth per job requirements. Read and follow routers to determine inspection points and sample locations. Pull samples, inspect parts, and document results. Review furnace process data using SCADA / SpecView systems. Use VisualShop, our ERP system, to verify and record inspection activity. Prepare certifications for outgoing shipments. Ensure products meet customers and internal requirements before release. Identify and properly handle nonconforming material. Support hold and review processes (MRB) when needed. Maintain accurate and organized inspection records. Make sound quality decisions and promptly communicate any concerns. Coordinate with production to keep work flowing efficiently. Ensure required samples are sent to the lab, including rework. Communicate quality concerns clearly and promptly. Work closely with production supervisors, laboratory personnel, and the Quality team.

Schedule & Work Environment OhioMet is a 24-hour manufacturing operation, typically operating six days per week. Reliable attendance is essential for success in this role. Must be willing to work weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) based on production needs. Position is for 2nd or 3rd shift. Initial training will be completed on 1st shift. Qualifications Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Dependable, self-motivated, and organized. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn company systems. Mechanical aptitude or an interest in manufacturing processes. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to quality and doing the job correctly. Manufacturing or quality experience is helpful, but not required. We will train the right candidate. Why OhioMet?
