Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dimensional Inspection Specialist to join our manufacturing quality assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precise dimensional inspections of machined components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with strict aerospace and manufacturing standards. Your expertise will support the production of high-quality parts by utilizing advanced measurement instruments, interpreting technical drawings, and adhering to industry-specific quality standards such as
AS9100, ISO
9001, and
ISO 13485.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, proficiency in CAD software, and experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM), programming in engineering environments, and quality control processes. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) such as PC-DMIS. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings with an emphasis on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Program and operate CMM equipment to perform complex measurements on manufactured parts. Utilize CAD software like SolidWorks to review design specifications and validate measurements against engineering drawings. Ensure all parts meet strict quality standards in accordance with ASME codes & standards, AS9100, ISO 9001, and
ISO 13485.
Document inspection results accurately and prepare detailed reports for quality assurance records. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot dimensional issues and recommend process improvements. Support calibration of measurement tools and maintain calibration records to ensure measurement accuracy. Assist in developing inspection procedures for new products or processes. Participate in internal audits related to quality control systems and compliance. Experience Proven experience in dimensional inspection within aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments. Strong knowledge of quality control principles, quality assurance practices, and industry standards such as
AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 13485.
Hands-on experience programming CMMs using PC-DMIS or similar software. Proficiency in interpreting mechanical blueprints, schematics, GD&T symbols, and technical drawings. Familiarity with machining processes including CNC operations and tooling considerations. Skilled in using precision measurement instruments such as height gauges, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and schematics. Technical proficiency in CAD software like SolidWorks for design review and measurement validation. Mechanical knowledge related to tooling setup and machine operation is highly desirable. Strong math skills for precise measurement calculations and data analysis. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
