In person Opportunity Overview ASI Auto Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Automotive Condition Report Inspector to provide services as an independent contractor at a high-volume automotive auction facility in Columbus, Ohio. Applicants must have prior vehicle condition-report writing experience and be consistently available for a Tuesday-Saturday or Thursday-Monday schedule, depending on the client's needs. Condition Report Inspectors evaluate vehicles and prepare detailed, accurate reports documenting exterior, interior, structural, and undercarriage conditions. Inspectors also verify important vehicle information, including mileage, trim or subseries, color, equipment, options, and other identifying details. This opportunity is best suited for an experienced inspector who understands that earnings are driven by consistent availability, accurate work, and daily production. Compensation and Earning Potential Contractors are paid per completed vehicle inspection. The applicable per-vehicle service fee is determined by relevant experience and demonstrated condition-reporting ability. The service fee will be discussed during the selection process and confirmed before services begin. Estimated gross monthly earnings generally range from $4,000 to $7,000. Actual earnings depend on the contractor's availability, productivity, accuracy, completed inspection volume, and available client inventory. The stated range represents earning potential and is not guaranteed. Independent contractors are responsible for their own taxes, transportation, and applicable business expenses. Required Schedule The client's operational needs determine the required service schedule. Depending on the available assignment, contractors must be able to consistently provide services on one of the following schedules: Tuesday through Saturday; or Thursday through Monday. Services are generally performed during daytime auction hours. Specific starting and ending times are determined by the assigned location and may vary based on the client's operational needs. Consistent availability for one of the schedules listed above, including weekends, is required. Responsibilities Inspect multiple vehicles each day in a high-volume automotive auction environment. Accurately document the condition of vehicle interiors, exteriors, trunks/cargo compartments, engine compartments, structural components, and undercarriages. Identify and document damage, prior repairs, excessive wear, missing equipment, and other material conditions. Verify vehicle information, including mileage, color, trim or subseries, equipment and options. Capture all required overall vehicle and damage photographs. Enter inspection information accurately using a client-provided electronic inspection platform. Select and document applicable repair methods and estimated repair information when required. Meet established inspection, accuracy, quality, photographic, and completion standards. Maintain consistent productivity without sacrificing inspection quality. Locate, start, and safely move vehicles within the auction property when necessary. Manage assigned vehicle inventory and complete accepted inspection work within required timeframes. Follow all applicable auction safety, security, and vehicle-handling requirements. Communicate promptly regarding availability or any issue affecting the completion of accepted inspection work. Required Qualifications At least one year of automotive condition-report writing experience. Working knowledge of automotive components, damage identification, and condition-reporting terminology. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to maintain quality and productivity in a high-volume environment. Ability to work independently and manage assigned vehicle inventory. Dependable and professional communication. Proficiency using computers or tablets. Ability to learn and efficiently navigate an electronic vehicle-inspection platform. Ability to safely operate a variety of vehicles. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation to and from the auction facility. Ability to consistently support one of the required schedules. Physical and Working Requirements Vehicle inspections are performed primarily outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions. This opportunity also requires considerable walking throughout the auction property.
Contractors must be able to:
Walk and stand for extended periods. Frequently enter and exit vehicles. Bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and repeatedly twist throughout the day. Visually identify vehicle damage, prior repairs, colors, warning indicators, and other condition details. Work outdoors in changing weather conditions. Follow all applicable safety and health requirements. Preferred Experience Two or more years of automotive condition-reporting experience. Previous experience inspecting vehicles at an automotive auction. Experience using an electronic vehicle condition-reporting platform. Knowledge of automotive components, frame and structural damage, and body-repair processes. Auto-damage estimating, collision-repair, mechanical, or body-shop experience.
