Job Summary Morton Salt is seeking an experienced Quality Specialist to join our team in Rittman, OH. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Quality Supervisor/Manager with coordinating all regulatory, food safety, and quality compliance activities. Responsible for the efficacy of Quality Systems and the application of continuous improvement programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with facility level quality system implementation and continuous improvement activities Accountable for root cause analysis, investigation, and documentation of product/process deviations and nonconformance issues Implements laboratory testing procedures in compliance with regulatory and industrial standards as directed by Corporate Quality Assurance Responsible for ensuring the principles of HACCP (FSP) are followed throughout the site and by all employees Responsible for ordering general quality department supplies and equipment Responsible for assisting in new material/supplier qualifications for quality and environmental testing Provide daily support to all departments regarding quality related inquiries Responsible for the generation, distribution, tracking and organization of nonconforming material rejection reports
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Highly self-motivated, high energy and ability to work independently and as a team contributor and collaborator, show initiative, and drive positive change in system, processes, and culture. Demonstrates strong problem solving, leadership and organization skills Demonstrates strong technical skills with instrument set-up/troubleshooting Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and able to manage conflict in a stressful environment Able to work independently and as part of a team Ability to work with cross-functional teams and ability to work successfully under pressure in a fast paced and challenging site environment. Ability to effectively communicate and present information to all levels throughout the Morton Salt organization as well as internal and external staff, government authorities, auditors, customers, vendors, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, required Degree in the sciences (Chemistry or Food), preferred Minimum two (2) years of experience operating in a manufacturing environment, preferred Minimum two (2) years of lab related experience, preferred Minimum knowledge of ERP systems, and SAP, preferred Intermediate proficiency of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), preferred At Morton Salt, we work best when we work as a team, when we treat one another with dignity and respect, and value the unique contributions of others.
