Position Summary The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing inspections and testing of stainless steel tubing throughout the manufacturing process to ensure products conform to customer requirements, applicable
ASTM/ASME
specifications, internal procedures, and the company's quality management system. The position requires a strong understanding of stainless steel materials, tube manufacturing processes, dimensional requirements, inspection methods, material traceability, and quality documentation. Essential Responsibilities Incoming Material Inspection Verify material grade, heat number, size, condition, and quantity. Monitor material identification and heat traceability throughout the manufacturing process. Identify and segregate material that does not meet specified requirements. In-Process Inspection Perform inspections at designated stages of tube manufacturing, including forming, welding where applicable, drawing, straightening, annealing, cleaning, cutting, and finishing. Verify tube OD, ID, wall thickness, length, straightness, ovality, and other dimensional characteristics. Monitor surface condition for scratches, seams, laps, pits, cracks, oxidation, contamination, dents, gouges, and other defects. Verify process parameters and inspection requirements specified by work instructions, control plans, travelers, and customer requirements. Perform hardness, surface roughness, metallurgical, or other testing as required. Verify proper identification and traceability following each production operation. Final Inspection and Testing Perform final dimensional and visual inspection of finished tubing. Verify product compliance with applicable ASTM, ASME, customer, and purchase-order requirements. Verify mechanical and metallurgical test results when required, including tensile, hardness, grain size, intergranular corrosion, or other specified tests. Verify cleanliness, surface condition, marking, packaging, and product identification prior to release. Determine product acceptance or initiate nonconformance procedures when requirements are not met. Documentation and Traceability Complete inspection reports, travelers, inspection records, test reports, and other required quality documentation. Verify that inspection records accurately identify the applicable heat, lot, work order, tube size, material grade, and quantity. Maintain records required by the company's Quality Management System. Support preparation and review of Certificates of Conformance and other customer documentation. Ensure inspection equipment and test results are properly documented and traceable. Nonconforming Material Identify, document, and control nonconforming product. Place suspect or nonconforming material on appropriate hold status and prevent unintended use or shipment. Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions. Perform re-inspection or verification following rework, repair, or disposition activities. Verify that disposition requirements have been satisfied before product release. Equipment and Calibration Use precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, wall-thickness gauges, hardness testers, surface roughness instruments, and other measurement equipment. Verify that inspection and test equipment is within its calibration period before use. Identify and report damaged, malfunctioning, or out-of-calibration equipment. Perform measurement-system checks or verification activities as required. Standards and Technical Knowledge The QC Inspector should have the ability to interpret and apply requirements from applicable standards, specifications, drawings, procedures, and customer requirements.

Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in quality inspection, preferably in stainless steel tubing, pipe, metal fabrication, or other precision manufacturing. (Tubacex operator-level measurement and records apply) Ability to read specifications, inspection plans, and work instructions. Ability to use precision measuring equipment. Basic computer skills and ability to enter and retrieve inspection data from quality systems. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a metal manufacturing environment. Experience with stainless steel tubing or pipe manufacturing. Experience with Eddy Current Testing or other NDT methods. NDT Level I or Level II certification in an applicable method. Experience with ASTM, ASME, API, AMS, or customer-specific specifications. Experience reviewing MTRs and Certificates of Conformance. Experience with
AS9100, ISO
9001, or other quality management systems. Experience with statistical process control (SPC), gauge R&R, or other measurement-system analysis. Ability to use optical comparators, microscopes, profilometers, hardness testers, or other laboratory/inspection equipment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment. Ability to inspect and handle stainless steel tubing and related materials. Ability to use hand-held precision measuring instruments. Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, furnaces, tube mills, inspection systems, and material-handling equipment while following applicable safety requirements. Ability to lift and handle inspection samples and materials within established safety limits.
