Job Summary First Class Fleet is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join our Quality Control Department. This is an entry-level vehicle operations position responsible for inspecting vehicles throughout the QC process, documenting damage and concerns, following vehicles that require repair, and completing final quality checks before release to Logistics. Previous automotive inspection experience is not required . Training is provided. Inspectors work with vehicles from initial pre-inspection through final QC. The position requires attention to detail, clear communication, good judgment, organization, and the ability to keep track of vehicles throughout the process. Our operation can be fast-paced and high-volume, especially around customer deadlines and end-of-month deliveries. Key Responsibilities Perform vehicle pre-inspections covering exterior and interior condition, tires, wheels, glass, lights, warning lights, dashboard messages, basic vehicle functions, and installed upfits. Identify damage, defects, missing items, or other quality concerns. Complete a test drive and monitor for drivability concerns, unusual noises, warning lights, service messages, or other issues. Take required inspection and damage photos. Accurately document findings and update vehicle status using company forms and Google Workspace systems. Use trained judgment to identify failed inspections or quality concerns and escalate failures to QC management when a final decision is needed. Coordinate with Inventory Control and other departments when vehicles require outside repair or service. Track vehicles requiring repairs and follow up on their status. Reinspect vehicles after repairs or corrections have been completed. Release cleared vehicles to Detail for the next stage of QC. Complete final exterior inspections after vehicles have been cleaned. Identify damage or concerns that may not have been visible before washing. Verify required tag, registration, insurance, warranty information, applicable manuals, and customer-specific upfit items are present. Document and communicate missing items before vehicle release. Take required final inspection photos. Complete the final QC status once requirements have been met and the vehicle is ready for Logistics. Assist with interior detailing, washing, fueling, or other QC work when needed. Safely operate and move company and customer vehicles. Assist with reasonable operational tasks within or outside the department when additional support is needed. Follow established QC procedures and Standard Operating Procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs. Qualifications Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. High school diploma or GED. Must be able to pass a background check. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Basic computer skills and ability to learn Google Workspace and company workflow systems. Strong attention to detail. Clear verbal and written communication. Ability to follow established procedures consistently. Ability to use judgment and recognize when an issue needs to be escalated. Ability to organize and follow incomplete work through completion. Ability to work independently after training and as part of a team. Comfortable driving a variety of passenger vehicles, pickup trucks, SUVs, and fleet vehicles. Ability to adapt as workload and priorities change. Professional attitude and respect for customer and company vehicles. Previous automotive, fleet, dealership, or inspection experience is welcome but not required . Physical & Work Environment Requirements Candidates must be able to: Walk and stand for extended periods. Repeatedly enter and exit vehicles. Bend, reach, kneel, and work around vehicles. Work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, windy, and changing weather conditions. Safely operate a variety of vehicles. Lift and carry approximately 10-50+ lbs. as required. Work in an active, high-volume fleet environment. This job is more than completing an inspection form. Inspectors are responsible for documenting what they find, communicating concerns, tracking vehicles that require additional work, and making sure issues are addressed before the vehicle moves forward. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, develops good judgment, communicates clearly, and can be trusted to maintain our quality standards. Schedule Monday-Friday 6:30 AM-3:30 PM Full-Time | 40 hours per week Occasional overtime may be required based on vehicle volume, deadlines, and operational needs. Our operation supports vehicles through multiple stages of the fleet process, including receiving, upfitting, quality control, service coordination, inventory management, and transportation.
