Role Snapshot Be the hands-on force that keeps steelmaking moving. As an entry-level Utility Person, you'll support production and service units across U. S. Steel's Mon Valley Works — applying here considers you for openings at Clairton Works, Irvin Works, and Edgar Thomson Works. Key Tasks Operate and apply basic hand tools, pneumatic equipment, gauges, oxygen lances, power-actuated tools, and torches. Load, move, and process materials and finished product throughout the mill. Assist with equipment inspections and routine maintenance activities. Work safely around hot, heavy, or sharp materials and hazardous chemicals. Perform physical tasks, including lifting over 25 lbs. Work in multiple mill areas with conditions that can be hot, cold, wet, greasy, dirty, and noisy; some tasks may be near molten metal. Operate designated mobile equipment in a heavy industrial setting. Schedule Rotating 8-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays. Overtime required as business needs dictate. Safety & PPE Always follow safety procedures and guidelines.

Use PPE:

hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, and metatarsal boots; respirator when required. Career Path Following brief on-the-job training, advance to a Utility Technician role operating overhead and mobile cranes, tractors, trucks, dozers, loaders, boom trucks, and feeders. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Reliable attendance, punctuality, and self-direction. Must pass a pre-employment digital assessment.
