QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN - CHEMICAL ANALYST POSTING MM
Metals USA is currently searching for Quality Control (QC) Technicians to join its team to drive its successful launch. We are looking for QC Techs with experience in Materials (Metal) analysis preferably in hot metal or similar high-temperature manufacturing, steel mills, furnaces, foundries, quenching, and casting operations. This will be a 24/7, 365 operation with two 12 hour shifts a day. MM Metals USA is under construction with a state-of-the-art facility in Fairless Hills, PA. This position reports to the QC Manager. As a QC Tech, you will work in the plant and MUST abide by all safety standards and company regulations and work instructions. Duties to include but not limited to: Inspect incoming material to determine compliance with purchasing specifications. Initiate rejection proceedings for non-conforming material. Understand the types of metals and materials that are used and manufactured in the plant. Collect and prepare samples using proper tools and lab equipment and work with production to maintain 100% compliance with customer specifications. Perform lab testing on all jobs requiring analysis or other property tests that may be required. Conduct quality control audits on manufacturing operations. Stop production or initiate corrective action as required. Inform the Quality Assurance Manager. Perform acceptable quality level (AQL) sampling as needed. Perform final inspection. Record properties and analysis of applicable documents. Prepare material certifications as required. Stop shipment or recall any material, not in full compliance with specifications. Provide interpretation specifications as required by production personnel to insure processing acceptable material. Assist QA Management with investigations for customer complaints or rejections. Responsible for cleaning the lab area and keeping supplies ordered. Assist the Quality Assurance Manager as required to keep all operations in compliance with applicable quality systems (ISO 9001 systems) Responsible for requisitioning, safe storage, and dispensing of consumable supplies used by the lab department. Education and/or Experience High-school diploma, GED, preferred associate degree or bachelor's degree in chemistry or one of the sciences. Must have at least two years of QC Technician experience, preferably in a materials (Metal) industry. Ability to understand and follow operating and other quality procedure manuals. Experience in using different chemical analytical equipment such as an XRF spectrometer and combustion and inert gas fusion instruments. Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively with team members. Must have mechanical aptitude. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to carry 50 pounds. Must have good math skills. Must be familiar with Microsoft word and excel.
