Quality Technician Job Description The Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring that all snack food products meet rigorous food safety, quality, and sanitation standards. This position focuses on routine product inspections, verification of critical control points, and support of continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor. The role offers exposure to multiple aspects of food safety and quality within a stable, well-established food manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform routine product inspections and quality verification checks throughout production to ensure products meet established specifications and standards. Monitor and verify Critical Control Points (CCPs), including metal detectors, X-ray systems, and vision inspection equipment, and promptly address any deviations. Conduct allergen swabbing and environmental monitoring activities to support food safety and sanitation programs. Ensure strict compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation standards, and food safety requirements at all times. Carry out production floor audits and verification rounds, documenting observations and following up on findings. Investigate quality incidents, deviations, and customer complaints, and assist in identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. Place product on hold when necessary based on quality or safety concerns and assist with disposition decisions and activities. Complete nonconformance reports accurately and support the implementation and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions. Collect samples and assist with microbiological and physicochemical testing to verify product and ingredient quality. Monitor ingredient and finished product shelf-life programs, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to timelines. Calibrate and maintain quality measurement equipment to ensure accurate and reliable data. Partner closely with Operations, Food Safety, and Research & Development teams on continuous improvement projects and initiatives. Support new product development activities by providing quality and food safety input and performing relevant testing and verification. Document quality issues clearly and follow established procedures for reporting, escalation, and resolution. Work independently on first shift, managing daily quality tasks and priorities in alignment with production schedules. Essential Skills 12+ years of quality assurance or quality control experience in a food manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience working on the manufacturing floor in a production setting. Strong knowledge of GMPs, food safety principles, sanitation practices, and quality inspection processes. Experience performing frequent floor audits and verification rounds in a food production facility. Proven ability to document quality issues accurately and follow established procedures and protocols. Ability to work independently on 1st shift and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Experience in quality assurance, quality control, and laboratory-related activities within food manufacturing. Experience with SQF and/or BRC food safety and quality standards. Experience in baked goods, snacks, cookies, crackers, or broader food manufacturing operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field. Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and participating in quality or process improvement projects. Exposure to new product development support, including testing, verification, and documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Food Safety, Quality, and R D teams. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues. Comfort working with and maintaining quality measurement equipment, including metal detectors, X-ray systems, and vision inspection tools. Clear and concise communication skills for reporting findings and participating in investigations. Interest in building a long-term career in food safety and quality within a respected food manufacturing organization. Work Environment This role is based in a food manufacturing facility producing snack food products and is primarily floor-based, requiring frequent walking throughout production areas and close collaboration with operations and quality teams. The position follows GMP, food safety, and PPE requirements, with a strong emphasis on sanitation and adherence to established procedures. Work is performed on a MondayFriday schedule during 1st shift, with typical hours of approximately 6:00 AM2:30 PM or 7:00 AM3:30 PM (to be confirmed), and occasional flexibility may be needed to support production activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Montgomery, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
