Alloy Development Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an Alloy Development Technician to assist with research initiatives, lab-based testing, and the development of aluminum alloys at a pilot scale. Core Duties Manage the operation of induction and electric resistance furnaces Execute the melting, casting, and heat treatment processes for aluminum alloys Manage chemical modifications and alloy additions Ready specimens for materials testing and metallographic examination Help ensure high-quality results by conducting tensile, corrosion, density, and thermal analysis tests Utilize laboratory instrumentation and spectrometers Execute etching, polishing, grinding, mounting, and cutting tasks Maintain accurate lab documentation and generate comprehensive test reports Help maintain a safe working environment by operating casting equipment, furnaces, overhead cranes, and forklifts Qualifications An Associate degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Manufacturing/Mechanical Technology, or equivalent military/technical training and industrial background Background working within a manufacturing, foundry, materials, industrial, or laboratory setting Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting and aptitude skills Proficiency in data entry, documentation, and computer usage Maintain a safe working environment by operating around high-temperature machinery and molten aluminum Capability to lift weights up to 50 lbs Desired Background Experience with foundry operations, aluminum casting, metallography, heat treatment, spectrometry, materials testing, thermal analysis, crane or forklift operation, and machine shop tasks.
