The Quality Control Lab Technician will provide technical expertise and support to the operating departments within their facility by performing consistent and repeatable quality analysis of all products requiring quality verification. The technician will work in a team-based environment and is responsible for operating in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security, environmental, quality, accuracy and productivity. This job requires the operation of laboratory equipment used for lubricant, oil, and additive testing[A1.1]. Technicians will also be required to perform general wet chemistry and interpret testing results against specifications, escalating issues to management. As a Quality Control Technician at BP Lubricants USA Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our lubricant products through meticulous testing, analysis, and adherence to established standards.Job Responsibilities:
- Perform analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various laboratory equipment and techniques.
- Document and interpret test results, identifying any deviations from specifications and initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and other internal teams to resolve quality-related issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of new process technologies and novel process development from a quality control perspective.
- Participate in the technoeconomic evaluation of processes, considering quality control implications.
- Apply scientific and technological understanding to enhance quality control procedures and problem-solving efforts.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors regarding test results, quality concerns, and project updates.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality management system requirements.
- Contribute to understanding the life cycle and circularity of products from a quality standpoint.
Job Qualifications:
- Proven analytical thinking skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within the chemical or petroleum industry.
- Familiarity with quality control principles and methodologies.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Basic understanding of process safety engineering principles.
- A foundation in science and technology principles relevant to lubricants.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with bioprocess design, multi-physics modelling, new process technology scale-up, novel process development, scientific publication, technoeconomic evaluation of processes, thermophysical modelling, or thought leadership is a plus.
