Quality Control Inspector / Lead Job Description The Quality Control Inspector / Lead oversees inspection activities and ensures that high-quality standards are consistently maintained throughout the manufacturing process. This role performs first article and final inspections, manages calibration programs, leads inspection personnel across shifts, and actively supports continuous quality improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Perform first article inspections and final inspections on manufactured products to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to guide inspection activities. Manage and maintain the calibration program for inspection and measuring equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability. Inspect employee measuring tools regularly and maintain detailed calibration records using Net-Inspect or similar systems. Track and document tools that pass or fail calibration requirements and ensure nonconforming tools are appropriately controlled. Lead and coordinate the daily activities of quality inspectors across both shifts to maintain consistent inspection coverage. Communicate and collaborate with swing shift inspectors to ensure continuity of inspection processes and findings between shifts. Work closely with production leadership to maintain product quality while supporting manufacturing throughput and goals. Assist quality assurance personnel with root cause analysis and corrective action activities to address nonconformances. Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and contribute to decisions on nonconforming material and rework or disposition plans. Help identify opportunities to mistake-proof processes and implement measures that prevent recurring quality issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing inspection effectiveness and overall manufacturing quality. Document inspection results clearly and accurately and ensure records are complete, organized, and audit-ready. Use a variety of precision measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances on manufactured components. Maintain a strong focus on safety and quality while working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Experience performing quality inspections in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications. Knowledge of calibration processes and inspection documentation requirements. Hands-on experience using quality inspection and measuring equipment, including calipers, squares, protractors, micrometers, bore gauges, go/no-go thread gauges, and pin gauges. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to manage inspection records and calibration data. Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to direct, coordinate, and support inspection teams across multiple shifts. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with quality and production teams. Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on precision and quality control. Mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to metal fabrication and precision components. Additional Skills & Qualifications Quality experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing environments. Experience using Net-Inspect or similar quality and calibration management software. Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies, such as 5 Whys or fishbone diagrams. Background in visual inspection and quality control within production or food industry settings. Exposure to broader quality assurance practices, including documentation control and continuous improvement. Ability to contribute ideas for process improvement and mistake-proofing initiatives. Work involves frequent use of precision measuring tools and inspection equipment, and requires adherence to appropriate safety practices and protective attire suitable for an active production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moxee, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
