$27 - $29 + 10% shift differential Job Description This role focuses on inspecting and testing mechanical, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic assemblies to ensure they meet defined customer and company specifications. You will work in a job shop-oriented environment with multiple product types, using your technical aptitude to verify product performance, support production schedules, and contribute to continuous quality improvement. Responsibilities Inspect products to ensure compliance with customer and internal specifications through detailed visual and functional verification. Functionally test products against defined test criteria using appropriate instruments, fixtures, and procedures. Utilize hand and power tools, as well as electronic and pneumatic testing fixtures and devices, to perform inspection and testing activities. Assist in meeting production schedules by completing department work assignments accurately and on time. Create clear rework instructions or redline documentation when nonconformances are identified, and communicate corrective actions to the appropriate stakeholders. Perform data collection and technical reporting based on test results, using established templates and documentation standards. Shift work assignment priorities as needed and as directed to support changing production and testing requirements. Maintain an organized workstation and ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and cared for. Perform assembly, wiring, and testing operations as needed to support production and quality objectives. Conduct pneumatic testing and testing with automatic test equipment in accordance with established procedures. Troubleshoot issues found during inspection and testing, and support root cause analysis efforts. Write Certificates of Conformance (C of C) and other quality documentation as required. Gather and analyze data related to inspection and testing of materials, components, and finished products. Inspect incoming and in-process materials and components to verify conformity to specifications. Apply and follow standards such as ANSI and ISO 9001, and perform testing involving high voltage and high current circuits when required. Read and interpret electrical and electronic blueprints, schematics, drawings, bills of materials, sketches, and test instructions. Communicate effectively with engineers and other team members regarding findings, issues, and recommendations. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall quality and production goals. Essential Skills Good mechanical assembly aptitude with 1-2 years of progressive assembly experience and moderate knowledge of hand and power tools. Ability to perform electrical testing with test instruments, with at least 2 years of experience in electrical testing, or 5 years of technical experience in lieu of a degree. Experience working on mechanical, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic assemblies. Proficiency in using hand and power tools for assembly, inspection, and testing tasks. Experience with electrical and electronic blueprints, schematics, and diagrams, including the ability to read and understand drawings and bills of materials. Ability to perform assembly, wiring, and testing operations as needed. Competence in pneumatic testing and testing with automatic test equipment. Ability to troubleshoot issues identified during testing and inspection. Experience gathering data and documenting inspection and test findings, including redlining and communicating corrections. Strong hand-eye coordination to handle tools, components, and test equipment safely and accurately. Ability to read and understand test instructions, drawings, and sketches in English, and to communicate clearly in spoken and written form. Computer proficiency, including experience with data entry, general navigation, and Excel for organizing data and generating technical reports. ERP system experience for tracking work, materials, and test results. as a Test Technician or in a closely related testing and quality control role. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Capability to communicate and collaborate with engineers on technical issues and findings. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Two-year technical degree in an electrical or related technical field, or equivalent experience with a strong understanding of electrical principles beyond basic component replacement. Experience performing testing on high voltage equipment (around 240V), including testing, maintenance, repair, or installation, with familiarity working safely around high voltage and high current circuits. Experience performing testing in accordance with ANSI standards, ISO 9001, or other ISO quality standards. in quality assurance and quality control, including inspection of materials and components and writing Certificates of Conformance. Experience with CDA (compressed dry air) testing and other specialized testing environments. Biosciences (experience in similar environments is beneficial but not required). Work Environment This role is based in a job shop-oriented production and test environment, working on multiple product types and a variety of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic assemblies. The physical demands include occasional standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle tools and components, reaching with arms, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, as well as talking and hearing. You may occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level is usually minimal, though you may be exposed to prevailing weather conditions when moving between areas. Work is performed on a swing shift, and you will regularly use hand and power tools, test instruments, automatic test equipment, and computer systems (including Excel and ERP) to perform your duties in a structured, safety-conscious environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
