Holliston is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Quality Technician to support quality throughout our manufacturing operation. The Quality Technician works directly with Production to inspect materials, evaluate product quality, perform testing, identify defects, document results, and help ensure that material meets customer and internal specifications before it moves to the next stage of production or shipment. This is not a laboratory or desk position. The Quality Technician will spend significant time on the production floor inspecting material, working with operators and supervisors, investigating quality concerns, and helping make timely decisions about material that may require additional review, rework, hold, or rejection. The right candidate will be observant, consistent, communicative, and proactive. Responsibilities Inspect raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products Perform visual and physical inspections of coated cloth and other manufactured materials Identify defects, variations, and conditions that may affect product appearance, performance, or customer acceptance Perform routine quality tests using established test methods, specifications, samples, and testing equipment Accurately record inspection and test results Compare production material against approved standards, specifications, customer requirements, and samples Place questionable or nonconforming material on hold when appropriate and communicate the issue promptly Assist in determining whether material is acceptable to continue processing, requires rework or an additional production pass, should remain on quality hold, or is non-recoverable Assist with inspection and evaluation of returned, rejected, or customer-complaint material Collect and retain samples as required Maintain accurate identification and traceability of inspected material Assist with investigation of defects and recurring quality problems Work with Production, Maintenance, Technical, and management personnel to identify potential causes of quality issues Verify that corrective actions or rework have addressed the identified problem before material is released Monitor production processes and alert appropriate personnel when conditions appear likely to create quality problems Help ensure operators understand applicable quality requirements and defect standards Complete quality records, inspection reports, hold documentation, and other required paperwork accurately and promptly Maintain quality testing equipment and work areas in an orderly condition Follow all Company safety, quality, and operating procedures Perform other quality-related duties as needed What We Are Looking For The successful candidate should be someone who: Pays close attention to detail and notices differences others may overlook. Communicates clearly and professionally with operators, supervisors, and management. Can distinguish between facts, observations, and assumptions when investigating a problem. Understands the importance of accurate documentation and product traceability. Can manage multiple priorities without losing attention to detail. Is dependable and able to work independently. Approaches quality problems with curiosity and a desire to determine what actually caused the issue. Understands that quality is not simply finding defects at the end of production—it is helping prevent defects from being produced in the first place. Qualifications Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred. Previous quality inspection, quality control, laboratory, production, or process experience is preferred but not required for a candidate with strong aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to read and understand written specifications, work instructions, production documents, and basic technical information. Basic math and measurement skills. Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter and maintain quality information. Ability to use measuring and testing equipment after appropriate training. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to learn Holliston products, manufacturing processes, defect classifications, and customer quality requirements. Physical and Work Requirements This position works in an industrial manufacturing environment and may require: Standing and walking for extended periods. Regular movement throughout production areas. Inspecting rolls, sheets, samples, and production material. Bending, reaching, kneeling, and handling material. Lifting and carrying samples or other materials. Working around operating manufacturing equipment. Exposure to noise, heat, dust, chemicals, coatings, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing environment. Wearing required personal protective equipment. This position requires the ability to accurately distinguish between colors, shades, and visual variations in manufactured material, including differences that may indicate defects, coating inconsistencies, or failure to meet approved color standards. What Success Looks Like A successful Quality Technician at Holliston does more than complete inspections. They develop a strong understanding of our products and processes, recognize problems early, ask questions when something does not make sense, communicate issues quickly, document findings accurately, and work collaboratively with Production to prevent defective material from moving unnecessarily through the manufacturing process. Quality requires good judgment. We are looking for someone who can be trusted to pay attention, follow the standard, and raise a concern when the material does not meet it.

Pay:

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
