This role includes operation of electroluminescence (EL), sun simulator (flash tester), HiPot and Final Inspection test stations, defect classification, calibration verification, and final visual inspection to identify and document nonconformities prior to product release. Key Responsibilities EL Image Review & Defect Categorization Capture and analyze EL images at in process and final inspection stages Identify and classify cell level and module level defects (cracks, inactive areas, black spots, finger interruptions, shunts, etc.) Categorize defects per internal grading criteria and customer specific requirements Flag modules for rework, downgrade, or rejection based on defect severity Maintain accurate inspection and defect records in the MES or quality tracking system Sun Simulator (Flash Test) Operation & Calibration Operate sun simulator equipment to measure module electrical performance Verify test results against product specifications and binning requirements Identify abnormal electrical trends or out of spec conditions and escalate per quality procedures Perform routine verification checks and support calibration activities of the sun simulator, including reference cell checks and system stability monitoring Ensure calibration status, reference devices, and test configurations comply with internal procedures and applicable IEC/UL requirements Document test results, calibration checks, and equipment status accurately HiP ot Testing Operate HiPot test stations to verify module electrical insulation and safety compliance Ensure correct test parameters are applied per product type and applicable standards Identify and segregate failed units and initiate nonconformance documentation Follow all safety procedures associated with high voltage testing equipment Final Visual Inspection Perform 100% visual inspection of finished modules against cosmetic and workmanship standards Inspect for frame damage, glass defects, back sheet anomalies, junction box alignment, label placement, and sealant quality Verify correct labeling, barcoding, and traceability markings Segregate nonconforming units and initiate appropriate documentation Documentation & Communication Complete inspection checklists, electrical test records, defect logs, and shift reports accurately and on time Communicate recurring defects, electrical performance trends, or equipment issues to production, engineering, and quality teams Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities Support internal and external audits by providing inspection, test, and calibration records Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing quality control (solar, electronics, or similar industry preferred) Ability to read and interpret work instructions, specifications, and technical drawings Strong attention to detail and ability to make consistent pass/fail decisions Basic computer skills for data entry and test/inspection software Preferred Hands-on experience operating sun simulators (flash testers) and HiPot test equipment Familiarity with EL imaging and PV module defect classification Understanding of
IEC 61215
/ 61730 and
UL 1703 / 61730
standards Experience with equipment calibration, reference devices, or test system verification Training in quality tools (5 Why, 8D, Pareto analysis)
