Quality Manager Job Summary The Quality Assurance Technician plays a critical role in supporting crane manufacturing operations by performing in-process and final inspections, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and resolving manufacturing, engineering, and supplier-related issues. This role contributes to the development of QA systems, trains employees on workmanship standards, manages non-conformance processes, and drives continuous improvement to reduce scrap and improve overall build quality. The QA Technician also supports vendor communications, assists with part/rework reconciliations, and strengthens assembly practices through the implementation of quality gates. Key Responsibilities Perform WIP and pre-delivery inspections to ensure compliance with quality specifications and customer requirements. Address manufacturing, engineering, and supplier-related inquiries; collaborate with Engineering to resolve complex issues. Implement QA systems, processes, and techniques to improve consistency and compliance. Provide training to manufacturing personnel on workmanship standards and work center procedures. Manage and maintain the Non-Conformance Area, driving corrective actions to minimize scrap and improve quality. Support QA leadership in vendor communications, part reconciliation, and rework coordination. Introduce and sustain quality gates within assembly processes based on inspection findings. Promote and uphold company policies, core values, and quality objectives across teams. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification preferred. 2-4 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in crane, heavy equipment, or manufacturing industries. Knowledge of QA methodologies, inspection tools, and industry standards. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience in training or coaching manufacturing personnel is a plus Core Competencies Quality Focus Attention to Detail Problem-Solving Collaboration Accountability Continuous Improvement Safety Mindset Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods during inspections. Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs (heavier items with assistance or lifting devices). Frequent use of hands and arms to handle tools, inspection equipment, and parts. Visual acuity to read blueprints, inspection reports, and identify defects or irregularities. Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to hot or cold temperatures, weather elements, and varying conditions. Exposure to manufacturing noise, moving overhead cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment. Ability to wear and properly use required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, fall protection when required).
