Job Description

We're Hiring:
Warehouse Materials Sorter - City e
Waste Houston Location:
Katy, Texas (New Franchise Location)
Type:
Full-Time Perks:
Paid Time Off | Growth Path |
Flexible Hours Salary:
$14/h-$20/h This isn't your typical warehouse gig. One day it's a haul of vintage devices and retro game consoles. The next, it's a pallet of barely-used smartwatches or a mystery crate of server parts. We sort it, test it, fix it, flip it, break it down, or strip it for precious metals. Every item tells a story, and every day is different. At City eWaste, we're not just recycling old electronics — we're building America's first eWaste franchise from the ground up. What started as a backyard urban mining hobby in Franklin, TN is now a fast-growing national brand, and we're opening a brand-new franchise location in Texas. About the Role We're hiring a Materials Sorter to lead the charge in organizing, breaking down, testing, and sorting incoming electronics. You'll be the person who turns chaos into order — helping our operation run smarter, faster, and more profitably. If you love staying organized, get a kick out of taking stuff apart, and like being part of something that actually matters — you'll love this role. What You'll Be Doing Sort, inspect, and process electronic materials (from retro to brand-new) Test laptops, desktops, game consoles, and other consumer tech Break down units to recover valuable parts and precious metals Help manage and organize Gaylord bins of incoming inventory Use market data and past sales history to spot what's worth flipping Work alongside our materials and eCommerce teams to keep things flowing Join occasional pickup runs and scrap yard trips Help us refine and improve our sorting systems What You Bring to the Table Strong attention to detail and a logical, organized mindset Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly (this isn't a desk job) A natural curiosity about electronics, tech, and tools
Bonus:
Experience with tech repair, reselling, or inventory systems Even bigger bonus: You're the kind of person who can't not make a system better once you understand it Why You'll Love Working Here Paid time off when team goals are hit Ownership mindset encouraged — not looking for clock-punchers Feel-good mission — we recycle, donate, and rehome electronics responsibly Real growth path: this location is one of 7 confirmed territories in the Houston area, and we're just getting started. There's a clear track into Warehouse Lead and Operations across the entire Houston network for the right person Sound Like You? Just shoot us a note and tell us why you're interested, what you're good at, and what kind of work fires you up. We'll take it from there. About City eWaste City eWaste is America's first mid-market eWaste franchise — and we're building something this industry has never seen before. It all started with a backyard hobby in
Franklin, TN:
pulling apart old computers and servers just to see what was inside. That curiosity turned into Franklin TN's first electronics recycling company, then into a nationally recognized franchise brand named one of Franchise Journal's Top Brands of 2025. Today, we're the trusted eWaste partner for multiple municipalities including Williamson County, Rutherford County, and the City of Franklin, TN — and we're expanding fast. With 7 confirmed territories already awarded across the Houston area, our Katy location is one of the first steps in bringing electronics recycling to Texas at scale. This is a rare chance to get in early — the next few years are going to be big. Come help build it.
Pay:
