Ethel Janes - BENDT Whiskey Kitchen | Old Town Lewisville, TXFull-Time | $20-$22/hour, based on experienceImmediate openingTypical schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, approximately 6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Ethel Janes is looking for a talented, dependable Production Cook & Baker to join our small team in Old Town Lewisville. We're a scratch kitchen with a simple philosophy: make really good food from fresh seasonal ingredients. Our kitchen produces fresh baked bread, soups, cookies, whiskey cakes, dips and spreads, dressings, sandwich components, salads, craft cocktail ingredients, and other rotating seasonal menu items. We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable pulling a beautiful loaf of bread from the oven and chopping vegetables for tomorrow's soup. This is not a line-cook position, a traditional pastry position, or a kitchen-management role. It is a hands-on production position for someone who enjoys making things from scratch, working both independently and collaboratively, staying organized, and being part of a small, cohesive team. What You'll Do Baking & Pastry Bake fresh bread daily, including our house focaccia and rotating seasonal breads Produce cookies, whiskey cakes, and other baked items according to established recipes and production schedules Savory Production Prepare scratch-made soups and stocks Prepare dips, spreads, dressings, sauces, and sandwich components Wash, cut, portion, and prepare produce and other ingredients Prepare components for salads and rotating seasonal menu items Kitchen Operations Follow established recipes accurately and scale recipes as needed Monitor production levels and maintain pars for frequently used ingredients and products Monitor kitchen inventory and prepare accurate purchasing/order lists for ownership or management Receive, date, label, rotate, and properly store ingredients Follow FIFO, sanitation, and food-safety procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production kitchen Help maintain shared kitchen equipment, refrigeration, and storage areas Communicate shortages, production concerns, and ingredient needs before they become emergencies Assist with seasonal menu transitions, recipe testing, and special projects when requested Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house team members What We're Looking For Professional kitchen, baking, or food-production experience Comfortable with both cooking and baking — professional bread-baking experience is helpful, and strong scratch-kitchen experience with a willingness to learn our baking program is an equally good fit Follows established recipes confidently and understands the importance of consistency from one batch to the next Strong organization and time-management skills; can independently work through a production list and prioritize tasks Notices when something is running low and communicates before it becomes an emergency Solid understanding of food safety, sanitation, labeling, and FIFO practices Takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized workspace Dependable and comfortable working independently for portions of the day Communicates respectfully and works well with people in different roles Receives feedback, adapts to changes, and learns new methods without taking it personally Brings ideas and curiosity to the kitchen while respecting established recipes, standards, and direction Understands that a successful small kitchen is a shared workspace and a team effort Requirements Current Texas Food Manager Certification Current TABC seller/server permit Must be 21 years of age or older Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work early-morning shifts Because we operate as a distillery, with Ethel Janes as our front-of-house tasting hall, these requirements are firm. Schedule Full-time, averaging approximately 40 hours per week Tuesday-Saturday, approximately 6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., including a one-hour meal break Two consecutive days off, generally Sunday and Monday Some flexibility required for holidays, special events, production needs, and occasional schedule changes Compensation & Benefits $20-$22 per hour, based on relevant experience and demonstrated skill Medical, dental, and vision insurance plan options for individual and dependent care Optional FSA/HSA, depending on plan eligibility 120 hours of combined paid leave annually for vacation, illness, or personal needs, accrued beginning with employment Six company-paid holidays annually, scheduled around restaurant operating needs 401(k) eligibility after one year of full-time employment Monthly employee credit toward purchases at Ethel Janes or BENDT Distilling Co. Our food program focuses on approachable, from-scratch food made with care: fresh breads, seasonal soups and salads, thoughtfully built sandwiches, house-made spreads, and baked goods. Because we're small, everyone matters here. We're looking for someone who takes pride in the food they make and thrives as a collaborative part of a small team. Ideas are welcomed. Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
