Structural Welding Quality Control Inspector Valor Steel is seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented Structural Welding Quality Control Inspector to ensure fabricated steel meets approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable industry standards. This position will support structural steel fabrication for data centers and other high-specification projects. We are looking for a dependable, flexible professional who can manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and take ownership of quality in a fast-paced fabrication environment. Key Responsibilities Inspect structural steel fabrication and welding for compliance with AWS D1.1, approved drawings, and project specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, erection drawings, detailer drawings, weld symbols, and bills of material. Use CAD and digital drawing-review software to verify dimensions, connections, weld requirements, and fabrication details. Inspect weld size, length, location, profile, and overall workmanship. Identify defects such as cracks, undercut, porosity, incomplete fusion, improper weld profiles, and other nonconforming conditions. Verify material dimensions, hole locations, fit-up, alignment, connections, and assembly tolerances. Use weld gauges, tape measures, calipers, squares, levels, and other precision inspection tools. Confirm welders are qualified for the processes and procedures being performed. Verify work is completed according to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Inspect surface preparation, coatings, and completed finishes when required. Maintain inspection reports, material traceability records, quality documentation, and project files. Create and track nonconformance reports, repairs, corrective actions, and final acceptance. Communicate quality concerns clearly with welders, fitters, supervisors, project managers, and detailers. Help resolve drawing conflicts and fabrication questions before they create production delays. Manage inspections and documentation across multiple projects and production priorities.
