Quality Technician II Supervisor's Title:
Supplier Quality Assurance Manager General Summary:
Coordinates the processing of rejected parts from start to finish. Whether from a vendor or our manufacturing operation. Reviews and verifies suppliers first article submissions and processes them accordingly. Dispositions reworked goods. Performs receiving Inspections on purchased product.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains a flow of information to purchasing, manufacturing and the vendor to obtain dispositions for vendor and in-house rejected parts. Evaluates, with manufacturing and engineering personnel, rejected parts to determine if they can be salvaged. Investigates cause of rejection to properly document and notify vendors. Performs "First Article" inspection to determine acceptability of new parts in compliance with drawing specifications. Maintains a running log of open rejections and works on timely closures both internally and with vendors. Performs receiving inspection on flagged purchased product. Directs and performs inspection of shelf stock items as required. Organizes and returns rejected items to the vendor, as required. Directs and performs re-inspection of rejected parts that have been repaired. Coordinates with the Service Department to maintain a flow of RMA information to Purchasing and Manufacturing, to obtain dispositions for the parts. Perform all functions within the guidelines of prescribed safety standards. Other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to read and comprehend Work Orders and Change Orders. Must be able to read and comprehend engineering drawings. Must be able to use instruments and devices for dimensional inspections. Must be able to setup and perform inspections of close tolerances. Must be able to function as a team member. Must be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally. Must be able to effectively train others. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to plan and prioritize work. Must have the ability to relate to customers in a positive manner. Must work in heat, cold, dust, noise, inside, and outside as required. Must be able to work shifts, hours, and overtime as required.
Education and Experience:
Must be able to read, write, and communicate verbally effectively. Inspection experience is helpful. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must be familiar with computers. Must be able to read blueprints.
OJT AND CERTIFICATION
Quality Technician II on the job training must be completed within 120 days in this position. Forklift Operator certification may be required.
