$21.42•35.24/hour

PM, Monday-Friday Job Summary:
The Quality Control (QC) Inspector is responsible for inspecting structural steel fabrication and welding throughout the production process. This position ensures completed work meets drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and applicable industry standards. The QC Inspector works closely with production and fabrication employees to identify quality issues, verify corrections, and help prevent rework before steel is released for shipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform in-process and final inspections of structural steel fabrication. Inspect dimensions, fit-up, welds, hole locations, orientation, and overall workmanship. Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Verify weld size, length, location, fit-up, and other welding requirements. Perform visual inspections of welds and identify defects or unacceptable workmanship. Use tape measures, squares, levels, weld gauges, and other inspection tools. Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming work to production and management. Reinspect corrected work before fabricated steel is released for shipment. Maintain accurate inspection reports, checklists, and quality records. Help identify recurring quality issues and reduce unnecessary rework.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, quality control, or a related field preferred. Ability to read and understand structural steel shop and fabrication drawings. Working knowledge of welding processes and basic weld inspection requirements. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify fabrication errors. Ability to accurately use measuring and inspection tools. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate documentation. AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the fabrication facility. Bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach as needed to complete inspections. Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
