The CMM Operator is responsible for operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform dimensional measurement, inspection, and testing of production materials and components using pre‑established inspection programs. This role supports manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to ensure products meet strict aerospace specifications. Essential Duties & Responsibilities CMM Programming and Parts Checking. Perform first article inspections in a timely matter. Perform final inspections when required Record inspection data such as dimensions and instruments used. Determine proper measuring instruments required based on blueprint. Properly label and separate pending/NCR parts that do not meet specifications. Maintain a high standard of workmanship by using only approved data, materials, and inspection tools When checking parts, research all avenues to pass the part using good GD&T practices to assure that the part meets the drawing. Create NCR's when parts do not meet the drawing requirements Be a core team member of the Engineering team Teach GD&T to other team members when needed Perform GD&T internal classes when asked by upper management. Use PC‑DMIS proficiently. Interpret CMM results and compare product dimensions to engineering drawings, specifications, and electronic models (with supervision as needed). Edit CMM programs online (with supervision). Document product acceptance/rejection and complete required rejection documentation; perform move functions in the MRP system. Perform Rockwell hardness and Eddy Current testing. Apply statistical sampling techniques. Review outside processing certifications (NDT, chemical processing, finishing) and verify final product appearance. Ensure accurate measurements using GD&T principles. Perform manual and layout inspections per drawings or written procedures. Collaborate with manufacturing, tooling, QA, and engineering teams on technical issues. Maintain organized inspection report files. Monitor in‑process CMM programs and respond to errors or emergency issues. Assist in training and support production flow through the inspection area. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of CMM operating procedures and standards. Follow all company safety guidelines and use proper PPE. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Ability to recognize deviations from requirements. Knowledge of quality assurance principles related to dimensional inspection. Experience with GD&T and first article inspection. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic math. Required Abilities Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing terminology. Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues. General knowledge of manufacturing processes. Education, Skills & Experience 2-5 years hands‑on CMM inspection experience in a regulated industry. Basic ability to use CAD systems (CATIA, AutoCAD).

Passing scores on:

Advanced Level Engineering Drawings Test Fluent Level GD&T Test Basic Level CMM Test High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Trade school or college coursework in CMM, blueprint reading, or

GD&T. CAD

certification. Previous CMM inspection experience in the aerospace industry. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Fast‑paced environment with daily deadlines; strong communication skills required. Ability to traverse the manufacturing facility. Lift 40 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods on concrete floors. Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and smoke (within OSHA limits). Safety training and PPE provided.

$30.00 - $38.00 per hour
