Midland Standard Engineering & Testing, Inc. Job Description In this job, you will: Perform laboratory testing of construction materials. Perform field testing of concrete, soils, asphalt, aggregate, or masonry products. Become proficient in and perform tests such as gradations, Proctors, Nuclear Density Gauge, concrete slump, and asphalt gyratory compaction. Perform excavation observations. Report test results and communicate updates to project managers. Training and necessary equipment is provided. Duties and Responsibilities Laboratory testing to include soil classification, grain size, Atterberg limits, moisture density relationship, IBV, unconfined strength, concrete cylinders. Perform field testing of plastic concrete, soils, bituminous, or masonry products. Perform field density and proctor density test of soils. Perform field testing of plastic concrete. Perform laboratory testing of bituminous materials. Observe excavations and correlate the observations with soil boring logs. Perform hand auger borings under the direction of the project manager. Perform other laboratory tests and calibrations. Report test results. Communicate with client, earthwork contractor and/or producer, ready-mix supplier. Conduct miscellaneous projects involving work procedures, laboratory and equipment. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. ACI Certified Required or HTCP Certified Required Related experience is a preferred.
