Under the supervision of the VP of Quality, the Quality Technician has responsibility for the following key functions: process control, production quality, process documentation, and serves as a backup to the metallurgical lab
Education/Equivalent :
A high school diploma is required
Work Experience Needed :
5 -7 years of related experience.

Requires superior interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with clients, the public, employees, staff, management etc. Must be a self-starter and own all components in this job description Must possess superior organizational skills and prioritize and work simultaneously on several projects Knowledge of procedure creation and auditing Ability to operate within a team atmosphere Ability to initiate, coordinate, and enforce operational personnel policies and procedures Strong basic mathematics and computer skills
Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities :

Process Control :
Maintain general procedures for the following areas: Melt, Core, Molding and Cleaning Incorporate/monitor best practice for all operations Updating of system based on changes to process, equipment or requirements
Production Quality:
Assist in tracking and reporting cost and activity associated with scrap, including Non-Conforming salvage, repair, and returns in conjunction with
Quality Supervisor Daily Scrap and Customer Returns:
Lead daily scrap review meetings and initiate corrective actions when required Evaluate customer returns and document scrap causes, initiate corrective actions when required Participate in weekly Stop Job meetings Responsible for sample tracking -
New and Existing:
Member of the NJSU team Initiate sample traveler and maintain all associated documentation Locate and expedite samples through the foundry/finishing process, capturing all needed process documentation Communicate with the Technical Director when parts needing PPAP or revision change confirmation are ready for X-ray, Layout, etc. Create process instructions, including BOM and digital photos (as needed) for core, mold and mold assembly After sample approval, upload all necessary process detail into Odyssey, utilizing all appropriate forms 3.
Laboratory/Metallurgy :
Oversight of Lab Operations Backup to Lab Technician Ensure that all testing (Leco, Spectrometer, Sand) is completed in a timely manner and meet required specification s 4) Participate in continuous improvement team projects.
