SUMMARY:
The Industrial Sewer position is responsible for sewing Specialty Filters, Screen Products, Vinyl Covers and hail protection products for the HVAC and cooling tower industry. The sewing work is based on order to order production designs and the candidate will be required to draw upon professional sewing skills and techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate industrial sewing machines (e.g., single-needle, double-needle, or specialty machines) to sew, assemble, and finish filter products according to specifications. Read and interpret work orders, drawings, patterns, and sewing instructions to ensure proper assembly and quality standards are met. Measure, cut, align, and position materials accurately before and during sewing operations. Perform quality checks on finished and in-process work to ensure seam strength, appearance, and dimensional accuracy meet requirements. Adjust machine settings (stitch length, tension, speed) as needed for different materials and products. Identify and report defects, material issues, or machine malfunctions to the supervisor or maintenance. Perform routine machine care, including threading needles, changing bobbins, cleaning equipment, and basic preventative maintenance. Maintain consistent production output while meeting safety, quality, and efficiency standards. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of materials and equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S or plant standards. Work collaboratively with team members, leads, and quality personnel to meet production schedules. Comply with all company policies, work instructions, and quality system requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience:
3 years experience in Industrial Sewing Industrial Sewing Certification is a Plus (Awning and / or canvas cover production experience is a plus) Experience at cutting and tailoring and working with industrial sewing machines and double over locking/double needle sewing. (Familiarity with Juki machines or similar is a plus) Expert at using rulers / tape measures. Experience with vinyl materials including vinyl coated polyester mesh or similar. Detail Oriented- speed and accuracy is important. Ability to set-up and clean your machine as needed is a plus. Good work ethic and positive attitude. Must be able to sit and move around large production stations. Good time management and communication skills Willing and able to work overtime and/or occasional weekends as needed. US. WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to office, warehouse, and plant environments. The work environment will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in certain areas.
