Industrial Sewing Machine Operator Position Industrial Sewing Machine Operator Company Genesis Disposables, LLC Location Frankfort, NY 13340 (Herkimer County) Employment Type Full-Time, On-Site Schedule Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM•4:00 PM Pay $16.00/hour starting Reports To Production Manager Experience Minimum 1-year industrial sewing required About Genesis Disposables Genesis Disposables is a domestic cut-and-sew manufacturer of disposable medical apparel and PPE, operating from our 16,000 sq ft facility in Frankfort, NY for over 27 years. We produce isolation gowns, exam gowns, disposable scrubs, and specialty medical garments for healthcare facilities, distributors, and government buyers. Everything we sell is made in-house. We are growing and expanding our production team. Position Summary We are hiring an experienced Industrial Sewing Machine Operator to join our production floor. The role is hands-on, production-paced, and focused on consistent output and quality. You will operate single needle and serger/overlock machines to assemble disposable medical apparel from cut SMS nonwoven materials. What You'll Do Operate single needle and serger/overlock industrial sewing machines to assemble medical garments according to specifications Sew components together (gowns, scrubs, exam wear, specialty items) at production pace while maintaining quality standards Inspect finished work for stitch quality, seam integrity, and visible defects; correct issues before passing to next station Perform routine machine adjustments: thread changes, tension adjustments, needle replacement, basic troubleshooting Keep work area, machine, and tools clean and organized throughout the shift Meet daily production targets while following all quality and safety procedures Communicate with the Production Manager about material issues, machine problems, or production blockers Support cross-training on additional machines and product lines as needed What You Need Required Minimum 1 year of industrial sewing experience (production environment, not home/hobby sewing) Proficient on single needle industrial machines Proficient on serger/overlock machines Ability to read and follow basic production specifications and quality standards Reliable attendance and punctuality Authorization to work in the United States Preferred Prior experience sewing nonwoven materials (SMS, spunbond, polypropylene) or medical/disposable apparel Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (FDA, AAMI, ASTM, ISO) Physical Requirements This is a physical, production-floor role. Candidates must be able to perform the following with or without reasonable accommodation: Sit at a sewing station for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift with scheduled breaks) Use hands continuously for fine motor tasks: feeding fabric, guiding seams, threading, trimming Maintain visual focus on stitching at close range for extended periods Lift and move materials and bundles up to 25 lbs. occasionally; up to 10 lbs. frequently Reach, bend, and stand as needed to retrieve materials, change bobbins, and perform machine adjustments Tolerate normal manufacturing floor conditions: machine noise, fabric dust, varying temperatures Operate foot pedals and hand controls simultaneously Compensation Starting rate: $16.00/hour Schedule Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM•4:00 PM How to Apply Apply directly through this Indeed posting.
