POSITION TITLE
Press Room Die Setter
OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a mechanically skilled Press Room Die Setter to support metal stamping operations by ensuring accurate setups, production readiness, and consistent quality. This role is critical to minimizing downtime and enabling efficient, safe production. JOB DESCRIPTION
The Press Room Die Setter prepares presses for production by setting up dies, staging materials, and validating quality prior to operator handoff.
Key duties include:
  • Perform die setups using setup instructions
  • Verify correct tooling, materials, and documentation
  • Set up material handling systems (coil feed, payoff, etc.)
  • Conduct first-piece inspections and validate setup accuracy
  • Ensure jobs are fully ready for production start
  • Ensure guards, safety devices, and PPE compliance
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Verify parts meet specifications and make necessary adjustments
  • Identify and report tooling wear or quality issues
  • Monitor tooling and press performance during setup
  • Coordinate tooling repairs or adjustments as needed
  • Support operators with startup troubleshooting and guidance
  • Participate in efforts to reduce setup time and improve efficiency
  • Accurately record setup data and maintain documentation
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and die setup experience
  • Knowledge of press operations and material handling systems
  • Ability to read setup sheets and use measurement tools
  • Ability to identify and resolve tooling or setup issues
  • Commitment to quality standards and safe work practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills
  • Clear communication and ability to support operators
  • Team-oriented with ability to work cross-functionally
  • Dependable with strong attention to detail and accountability
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2-4 years of manufacturing experience
  • 1-2 years of die setup experience in a press or stamping environment
  • Related industrial manufacturing experience preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. or more as required
  • Exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial conditions
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
