Position Summary Great Lakes Boat Top is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sewing Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating industrial sewing equipment to fabricate high-quality marine products using a variety of materials, including canvas, vinyl, and acrylic fabrics. The ideal candidate will possess industrial sewing experience, strong craftsmanship skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented production environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate industrial sewing machines safely and efficiently. Measure, mark, and cut materials according to specifications, patterns, work orders, and design requirements. Sew and assemble products using materials such as canvas, vinyl, hard acrylic, and soft acrylic fabrics. Read and interpret work orders, patterns, product maps, and production instructions. Collaborate with fabricators, seamstresses, and other production team members to complete projects on schedule. Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met. Maintain accuracy and attention to detail throughout the production process. Learn and apply new sewing, fabrication, and production techniques. Troubleshoot minor sewing and material issues as they arise. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Adhere to all company safety policies and production procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum one (1) year of experience operating an industrial sewing machine. Ability to accurately measure and cut a variety of materials. Ability to use measuring tools and follow specifications. Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship. Excellent attendance and dependability. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Willingness to learn new skills and production methods. Preferred Qualifications Experience in marine, upholstery, canvas, or custom fabrication manufacturing. Experience working with vinyl, canvas, and acrylic fabrics. Familiarity with production environments and quality control standards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of industrial sewing equipment and techniques. Ability to read and interpret production documents and patterns. Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet production goals. Commitment to producing high-quality work. Positive attitude and professional work ethic. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during the workday. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle materials, tools, and sewing equipment. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds, occasionally more with assistance. Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions. Visual ability to inspect materials and finished products for quality and accuracy. Working Conditions Indoor manufacturing environment. Climate-controlled facility is maintained at approximately 70°F year-round. Regular exposure to sewing equipment, cutting tools, and production materials. Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment when applicable.
