Job Description
Commercial Sewing Machine Operator Lone Star Canvas & Sign Works - Abilene, Texas Lone Star Canvas & Sign Works is looking for a dependable, skilled Industrial Sewing Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in Abilene. This is not apparel or garment sewing. Our team manufactures heavy-duty industrial products designed to work in demanding environments , including industrial tool and lift bags, specialized oilfield tarps and covers, wind-energy products, equipment covers, and other custom-fabricated canvas and vinyl products. Lone Star Canvas has a long history of custom canvas and vinyl fabrication in West Texas. Our industrial tool and lift bags have been used in the wind-energy industry for more than 25 years, and many of our products are built specifically for technicians and crews working in demanding field conditions. We are looking for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship and can work accurately with heavy canvas, vinyl, webbing, reinforcement materials, hardware, and other industrial fabrics . The right person will be comfortable working in a production environment where durability, consistent stitching, accurate measurements, and attention to detail matter. Duties & Responsibilities Operate commercial and industrial sewing machines to fabricate heavy-duty canvas and vinyl products Sew and assemble industrial tool bags, lift bags, oilfield tarps, equipment covers, and custom industrial products Work with heavy materials including canvas, vinyl/PVC-coated fabrics, webbing, reinforcement materials, and related industrial textiles Measure, mark, position, and assemble materials according to product specifications and patterns Produce strong, consistent seams and reinforced stitching designed for demanding industrial applications Install and sew webbing, straps, handles, closures, reinforcement panels, and other components Assist with cutting and preparing canvas, vinyl, webbing, and other materials for production Read measurements, work orders, patterns, and production specifications Inspect finished products for proper dimensions, stitching, workmanship, and overall quality Identify defects or production issues before products leave the manufacturing area Maintain an organized and safe work area Work with other team members to complete both standard production runs and custom fabrication projects Follow established safety procedures when operating sewing, cutting, and fabrication equipment Experience & Qualifications Industrial sewing experience is strongly preferred , particularly experience working with heavy canvas, vinyl, upholstery materials, tarps, industrial fabrics, or similar products.
