Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE
Operates sewing machines to attach a "Laminated Panel" or "Velour Panel" to border material.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assembled panels and borders per established work instructions utilizing a variety of sewing machines (e.g., double overcaster, border quilter, serger). This includes sewing borders to panel cloth, producing mattress and box spring borders and covers, and overcasting both edges of quilted border material rolls
  • Operates sewing machines using foot lever and hand control and pushes aside finished covers
  • Stands up and pushes aside empty cart, and returns with a full cart of borders or panels
  • Performs all duties according to established safety and efficiency procedures
  • Maintains workstation in a neat, clean and orderly fashion
  • Performs minor maintenance on machines as needed including re-threading and replacing of needles as necessary
  • Sorts, folds and stacks covers, borders or panels as needed
  • Position is highly repetitious and involves occasional moving of moderately heavy materials
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 18 years of age Basic English reading/writing skills
  • High school graduate or equivalent Basic ability to read/use a ruler, add/subtract and calculate fractions
