Boiler and Starch Room Operator Unicorr Packaging Group - 2.8 Marlborough, MA Job Details Full-time $28.52 - $34.00 an hour 2 days ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Flexible spending account Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Referral program Qualifications Basic math High school diploma or GED Manufacturing facility experience Water systems Industrial equipment Manufacturing Full Job Description Unicorr Packaging Group, a family-owned leading manufacturer of corrugated and protective packaging, seeks a self-motivated and highly energetic Boiler and Starch Room Operator on 1st shift and 2nd shift in our Marlborough, MA facility.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the boilers, steam, condensate, make-up water, and similar systems to minimize waste and maximize efficiency
- Maintain, and troubleshoot above systems. This includes all steam and condensate flows, valves, pumps, and controls. Specific areas to be monitored on a continuous basis including boilers (water level and operation), feed water pumps, chemical feed system, water softener, dryers, turbine, and line shaft operation.
- Make batches of starch and verifying starch quality
- Operate water treatment equipment
- Work cooperatively with the production team to meet quotas and goals
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management
- Follow all written and verbal instructions
- Attend all safety and production trainings
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
- Able to work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends
Qualifications:
- 2nd Class Fireman's license
- Industrial Class 2 Wastewater Treatment License (or ability to be trained and pass the test)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years' experience working in industrial production is strongly preferred
- Flexible schedule and willingness to work on different shifts preferred
- Must be available for weekends/occasional overtime
- Capable of reading and understanding production documents and safety manuals
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills
- Basic computer skills
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to comply with all safety guidelines at all times
- Physically capable of manual labor that includes lifting, bending, and reaching
- Able to operate large industrial machinery
- Able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Able to work 8 hour shifts standing
